I have an old rock retaining wall in the middle of my lawn that now needs to have lawn at the top of the walls current height. The wall is not load bearing and just in the way. How much of the top of the wall would I need to remove to have the lawn at that height? Is 150mm - 200mm enough for the dir...

you can make your wall 70mm instead of 200mm if that helps.

** I am not an engineer, but i also don't trust your engineer. 30 meter span, far out, I am spanning 6 meters with no load and I need 250 C section. You are going 5 times the span with RHS?? RHS isnt made to do what you are trying to do. It will end up being unnecessarily heavier than for the span t...

well funny you mention, I was on the roof yesterday, there is a ventilation pipe, looks in good condition. But if you see my other post I have some knocking issues. How do you fix the suction issue? I might need a plumber to come quote both issues perhaps?

Hi, My toilet (normal Australian Caroma bowl) has water sitting in the bottom. When it flushes it ends up with the water in the bottom being half full. If I pee in it, it fills up back to the normal Australian level (so we know the pipes beneath and gravity is correct). So for some reason the flush ...

I agree your costs are too low, are you doing the work yourself? Restump, not enough info and i have only done raises, but this seems low. deck $10k - what about a cover on the deck and/or a garage? no roof/fence costs. Bath will definetly be a bit more than $6k. I dont see any floor costs.

You can draw up and measure up and then quote yourself based on Bunnings prices, add a couple of thousand for misc. add your draftsman and council costs, then double that cost and that should be somewhere near the TCO. This method allows for the builders time too.

how do I stop a house that knocks when any tap is turned off? Firstly I turned the pressure down at the mains (this may have helped a bit). Then I turned the mains off, emptied the pipes, to create air in the pipes. The idea is that the air will compress to aborb the noises. (this also may have help...

This is a different deck to my other deck question. I have an existing deck. The joists are simply 2 pieces of pine glued onto of each other spanning 3 meters. It is wobbly to walk on (and I don't know how it was ever approved). To strengthen should I attached strapping underneath (cross diagonal) a...

How do i best protect a ceiling built underneath a deck? Does anyone have some photos to share? The difficult thing is I was hoping to fully clad up the side up to the deck, making the roof onto of the ceiling a little more tricky. Any ideas? I could screw iron up to the joists, running inwards, gut...

Hi, I need to replace existing wooden posts (like the power poles), with steel posts on a single story qlder. Some of the house has new posts (75*75*?), but for whatever reason they did not do the whole house. My question is how do I determine (without an engineer) what my metal gauge should be on m...
