I think that's crazy! It should only be $1000 or so to secure the block. Speak to a conveyancer and they should be able to tell you that $20000 is unacceptable to secure a block considering banks need to be consulted. Thank you. That all makes sense. I think we will hire a private inspector as certifier is paid by Coral so they would be very biased and go through the CDC process instead of a DA. We are learning as we go - first time building. Is the CDC a private company who certifies the plans? If so, I think the SC did mention something about this in our last meeting. Did you get a private person in to check the slab, frame and so on? Building with Coral Homes - The Daydream 30

Hi Sammi, no we didn't as the developer wanted an extra $50k. They came back to us and offered it again to us at the original $500k two weeks later but we had already signed up for a block at The Oaks.
