option 2 allows people to get into the WIP without disrupting the work area (working triangle) whilst creating more bench space. Though if you went option 1 you should bring your island of the wall to create a walkway to the WIP, especially if the fridge is in there.

Kitchen manufacturers are more than capable of doing this. Personally I have installed many kitchens for clients who have gone for this look. Very easy to do however be careful how much people with slug you extra for, its really not extra work and thats the argument they may make to you.

Is it possible to put a powerpoint in the Caesarstone (silestone) waterfall edge in the kitchen island bench? We had our electrical appointment with Metricon yesterday and they are adamant that they can't cut into the caesarstone so it would be mounted to the front of the laminate cupboard of the i...

Blum tip on tandem drawers and push catch doors for floor cabinets (10mm under hang on over heads) is the cheapest way around this. As some users have said, shark nose profile handles will require alterations to the cabinetry which will make the whole job pointless to renovate as it would be much mo...

Just rip it out, you wont see it behind the fridge Do you know if its hard to get off? Assuming it's glued down. Definitely won't be glued, as CEK said, chisel under and pull. Keep off cut. Can come in handy if you need to fill in any spots particularly if fridge doesn't cover the whole wall.

I'd use your regular Canola Oil. Safest option for food prep area as you said. This is what woodworkers use for things like timber chopping boards, some bench tops etc. Cheap, easy and always some in the cupboard.

I'd do it before the kitchen is installed, if you do it after you may risk damaging the bench top. Unless its stone, then you can do it before the stone goes on as it takes an extra 5 days for the tops to go on.

I wouldn't if they attach to the front of the door. I've always recommended these to people https://www.bunnings.com.au/perma-child-safety-concealed-magnetic-locks-with-key-4-pack_p4211349 They attach to back of door and use a magnetic 'key' to open. Magnetic de activates the lock and once door is c...

With stone, you are paying for a slab, which I think from memory are 3600x1200. So for example if you wanted a small vanity with stone tops, you have to pay for the whole slab, despite not using most of it. Price won't vary too much based on this. If you organise yourself you may not get the stone a...

White grout is the safest bet with a blue'ish tile. Particularly if you get nice gloss white vanity/basin down the track.

drawers under your sink are a no no. The plumbing will take out most of the space leaving you with potentially hundreds of dollars worth of drawer hardware for next to no use.

First of all congrats on getting your first home! If you want the shaker style doors yes thermolaminated doors from Polytec are the cheapest. They wouldn't make the cabinet caracass' out of the same stuff, it would be doors AND panels. I'm a Cabinet Maker and my suggestion would be to go cheap in re...

You can do them with a shadow-line joint instead. You’d need the ends to have a 20mm overhang I just had temporary bench tops with my build and am getting natural granite and marble for less than the builders price for manufactured stone after handover I like the idea of having a temporary bench to...

You would have a real hard time finding a kitchen mob to do that, no worth it for them. Best bet would be handyman services or even a Cabinet Maker or similar looking for cash work.

MDF doors or polyurethane painted? Applying shark nose onto MDF doors and hand edging the shark nose profile by hand requires plenty of patience. If so I'd be interested to know if the used 0.5mm which edge tape instead of the standard 1mm thick.
