Hi Everyone Our building surveyor has got himself suspended (not related to our house). Essentially we now need to get a new surveyor for our project and process the 'change of surveyor' form through the VBA On the form it says it takes 30 working days to process, which seems like an eternity. And w...

Unfortunately the builder happy with him often means, I like using him has he looks after me rather than my client as I give him lots of work, a major reason that the client should pick one, removes this compromised position, good luck. I'll never make this mistake again that's for sure

Hi everyone We have received a quote from a builder for a 4 bedroom home. 1 option is for a brick render, the 2nd option is for a foam render. The foam render is coming in at about $13k less. I like the idea of the foam render as we could probably put the money saved into other upgrades. But also wo...

Including siteworks and decent fittings I would say around the ~$200k mark Really? Seems cheap to us - was expecting around 250-300 mark to be honest with basic fittings. I wouldn't be complaining though!

Hi Everyone I know this is a 'how long is a piece of string' question - but any very rough ballpark figure would be extremely helpful. Looking for what people would think it would cost to build a 4 bedroom, single storey home, approx. 229 square metres (24.5 squares). Cost assuming a basic level of ...

Hi there We are looking at purchasing a rear subdivided lot of around 480m2. The existing house which has street frontage, is an old weatherboard home, which looks pretty run down and from the street, looks pretty horrible. My partner and I plan to build on the rear lot a 4 bedroom modern rendered h...

Hi Guys We are looking at a block which has plans for a house with brick and render. Our builder has advised that we could save around $10,000 going for a 'foam render' solution. Wanted to know is this non-ideal? I have done some initial research and it seems like it is a better insulator, but not a...

Hi, Just a bit of background on myself; I work in the building industry as a building designer and see this dilemma on the regular. I have been involved in numerous court proceedings for copyright infringements of my own intellectual property. My advice to you would be NOT to use the plans in any w...
