As a little update, after some 3 years since I first raised the complaint with the builder and now nearly 7 years since the home was completed - the builder (Ventura, since purchased by BGC) refused to acknowledge any fault with the issue so we filed a complaint with the building commission. Long st...

] I finally got my test results back. Only 40% lime instead of 60% and the industry bulletin says under 50% will cause the softness problems I am seeing pH was also out (which is basically a side effect of the Lime issue) Taking this report to the builder shortly. cost was around $2000 for the repor...

Something like this could be a potential budget alternative though: https://www.blindsonline.com.au/day-and-night-duo/20998/night-and-day-duo-voile-storm.htm

Reliably any time you've been trying to find something for months; as soon as you ask someone else then you manage to find it. I am fairly sure the product I was thinking of was Luxaflex Silhouette. Doubly so because I also found a YouTube clip of them showing it on Selling Houses Australia and it m...

Hi Team, At some point a few years ago I saw an ad for a kind of blind that when all the way closed is in blockout mode, then as you open it a little bit the segments would swivel transitioning into a translucent/sheer mode and then as you pulled further on the opening it would start to rise up the ...

Hi All We too are having exactly the same problem with paint/plaster. We moved in to our newly built home 8 weeks ago & you barely have to touch the wall for chunks to come away. Putting up even a tiny picture is a nightmare & 3M products (which I have used with great success in may other h...
Yours sounds significantly worse than some of us. Not sure if that’s good or bad.

Follow-up 3 years later; the builder has brushed the issue off as normal from impacts despite the fact it has gotten much worse and there is damage to pretty much every wall in the house from all sorts of different causes. I accept that some damage wear and tear would be normal but the scale this is...

I would definitely go with 3 bigger rooms. Small rooms are generally just terrible and likely to result in clutter/not wanting to spend time on them, and then clutter and usage of other spaces increases effectively making the entire house smaller. My best recommendation is to go out and look at some...

My biggest suggestion is to get something that has a highly variable internal fan, e.g. 10-15+ speeds instead of 3 (high/medium/low). Look seriously into Actron Air, I went with iZone 311+Panasonic but I have a number of picky gripes with the system that seem to extend from basically having integrat...

With regards to the above URL, a house and land package will include many of them. Main things to be aware of are: - Settlement Fees ('Legal Fees') - Stamp Duty (if not First Home Buyer exempted) - Items specifically not included in the House&Land package (may include: painting, floor coverings,...

If you get ducted, and you wanted to get a dynamic zoning system for every room I would HIGHLY recommend that you get a unit with variable inside fan speed.. that is instead of "low"/"med"/"high" you get like 15 odd speeds.. examples are the daiken premium inverter and ...

Those bottom holes are intentional to let water out and generally vent the space. Sometimes called a "weep hole".

Hi Folks, I am hoping some people may have either anecdotal or professional-level advice. We recently had a new home completed in Baldivis, WA about 6 months ago. We are having a *terrible* time with chipping paint and plaster off the walls all through the house. For clarity this is in WA where we a...

Here is the NBN fact sheet explaining exactly what you need http://www.nbnco.com.au/content/dam/nbnco/documents/key-information-for-builders-and-cablers.pdf The idea is you give them that and they will handle it. Short version: - Conduit from the street to the outside of your house with a drawstring...
