Melbourne has definitely turned on the weather and after consistent rain all day yesterday, last night I noticed quite a lot of water pooling against the south-facing wall (this side of the house usually doesn't get a lot of rain). We bought the house 8 years ago, and fell in love with the gardens, ...

Thanks Stewie, that's what I was thinking. I might just try and do a small area first and see how long it takes. Thanks for the advice building-expert! The issue with the blow in is that it has moved about quite a bit, so I'd rather get rid of the old and get a nice tidy finish and make sure it's al...

I want to replace the blow in insulation in our roof this year and I want to weigh up the options/get some recommendations/hear about some experiences. We have a 4br house, the insulation is around 20 years old and is fairly useless. Can anyone recommend a company in Melbourne that they've worked wi...

I think it can look so as it is done well. Unfortunately I don't have any photos that you would want to see of such a set up as the ceiling in our 20 year old house we bought a few years ago looks as though it was built by someone who never looked up! I'm in the middle of working out how to repositi...

Thanks Paul, all very helpful. Regarding Z-wave and CBUS; down the track I would want to do things with door locks, the garage door, heating, integrate with the alarm etc - Is z-wave still a viable option for those applications? We're lucky to have good access in our roof, and we would probably go t...

I've been keeping an eye on CBUS for a few years now and I finally have an opportunity to potentially go down the CBUS path after my wife asked for a timer/sensor for the lights out the front. So I figured I would take her rather simple request and take it as far as I can to get started with home au...
