I think a nice walnut entertainment unit would look lovely. We have the exact same colour scheme and the Neo lounge from King and we went with a walnut unit from Click On Furniture. Love it.

Thanks DamNita! It’s been hard finding a picture with the same colour scheme. I think a walnut or dark unit would suit too.

I don't have any other photos with me, but you can see my cabinet (as well as my coffee and enjo floor thing) with the same floors / kitchen. Works really well I think.

Edited to add - this is several days after we have moved in, so a lot has changed - but it gives you an idea.

@DamNita - Thank you! Much appreciated!

Oooo we are yet to handover and move in, but we will have a very similar layout!

We also have the reo in viva brown/Congo legs RFR. :)

Our floors are eng. timber oak bourbon. And we also thought for ages about coffee table and entertainment unit colours worrying about too much timber. In the end we just snapped up clearance items from various places so I imagine they might be a bit of a mismatch... hopefully not too much.

We ended up with a Icon by Design Sven unit in oak. See if you like the solid walnut version

Thanks ehhc! I think a dark unit would suit the area too. Btw, loving our Reo 👍

I need help with choosing the media unit colour. We have an open living area with the kitchen nearby. The kitchen has all white cupboards and white bench tops. The floors are spotted gum and the walls are a very light warm grey.

Furniture wise we have a grey speckled lounge matched with a dark brown leather lounge.

I have attached a picture of the lounge room and the kitchen.

I would love something like the following King Living ad:

But not sure if it’s too much timber. Would love to hear what laminates or colour you think would suit our place. Thanks!

Hi, I just discovered your post while looking for joinery/kitchen companies. Could you please pm me with a breakdown of Davella Kitchen joinery costs? We need to get a few media units and a study area done. In terms of your joinery is there anything you wish you did differently or suggest to do? Thanks

It's all looking wonderful! You've done well with the colour scheme and lighting.

I'd love to know what plant you have in the white pot in the last picture. We'll eventually get some indoor plants but all that's on my wish list is a fiddle leaf fig.

Enjoy your new home! Can't wait to see the flooring and window dressings.

Throughout our build we found there were numerous issues that we had to inform our ss about. Even then most were not actioned straight away. As a result they had to do more to fix the issue as the build progressed.

At PCI we had 87 defects. A lot of these issues could have been rectified earlier if proper checks had been in place and our ss had better control of our build.

My suggestion would be to keep a close eye on your build.

Thanks Syd! I hope you are enjoying your home.

That is great :) would be keen to know your total bill so I know what to expect (don't say this to him though :P) - we have been his clients for 4 years - so he better do a good deal!

Ray seems reasonable and I will definitely mention you again tomorrow =)

Unfortunately, we did not have a very good experience with our Metricon build and had 87 defects raised during PCI! Some were addressed before handover but there are some still outstanding. Just happy we have the keys now and we can finally move on from this ordeal. We just hope Metricon does the right thing and fix all the defects.

When we settle in and I have a bit more time I will update the blog with the details.

Your house is looking fab! The garage door matches the facade really well.

Btw, Ray is coming to our house tomorrow for electrical work. Can't wait to see my kitchen pendants go up.

@mel, we had the same issue. They wouldn't allow us to change the colour and has been painted the same colour as the ceiling. By the time we received our keys the timber cracked and it is quite visible. It should really be covered with fc sheeting.

Hi Sydfam,
Why did you accept pci and i don't need to pay final cheque if that so....
And we are paying big money to them to get this crap?

Poor workmanship and building standard.

Our build was supposed to finish mid September and we only got our keys last Friday! So we were desperate to move in. We will definitely raise it during our 90 day service period.

I have been holding off writing a review about Metricon as we have been busy trying to get our keys and dealing with other major defects.

But I have to say we have been very disappointed with the quality of our new house. They used inexperienced tradies throughout the whole build. This and a not a very good building supervisor resulted in 87 defects raised during PCI! We would definitely not go with Metricon should we ever decide to build again.

Thanks! I'll check their website.

Has the colour turned out lighter than the pictures you posted on the forum? We're after a warm light to mid grey colour.

Hi Franky, did Metricon offer Glazing option for windows, Viridan Comfort plus. Cheers

jomesh007, yes they do. We had them quote different options for us.

Hope all is going well with your new house. Could you please advise whether you selected the Tuscan profile for your garage door. Our garage door took a while to install and now that it has been installed it looks different. There are more horizontal grooves than what was displayed in Studio M. Thanks!

Metricon installed our garage door recently and we've just noticed it's different from our selection. Did you by any chance choose the Tuscan profile? If so do you mind posting a picture of the garage door. Thanks!
