Definitely check the selections beforehand. Mixer Taps - It's really hard and expensive to change after. Ovens/Sinks etc = I would pay for the one you like as they cut to fit (though most are standard sizes). I upgraded the sink, the standard oven and cooktop were good enough for me. Shower screens,...

I am moving in 2 weeks. Makes it about 9-10 months from slab down. Some houses made it in 7 months, some are still going. Depends on your luck. I'd expect 9 months from slab down. I believe standard plans go quicker if you are not making any changes. Fairmont have a massive shortage of tradies. I do...

Yeah these builders can work fast when they want to. I grew up in Meadows (go up to folks every 2 week). Was thinking of moving into the estate, but went with Woodcroft as closer to home.

Why so long? The first year they pretty much misled us as to where the land was in council. 3 months, 3 more months, 3 more months, then in another 3 months we settled on the land. Has been almost 12 months now since settling. We originally walked into Fairmont over 24 months ago. At least I wasn't ...

I feel for you JakkiT. I'm building at Woodcroft Horizon Estate (Fairmont). I was supposed to be in 14 months ago, they just extended another 5 weeks (when I had only 2 weeks to completion). Seems most builders are the same.

I got a letter two weeks out from completion extending 4 weeks. Called SS, doesn't plan on having painters in until after the next completion date. Useless. Seems they are at least a month behind everywhere.

Footings: Deep, the deepest they go. Clay soil. Mine were $30k. Soil removal costs a couple thousand more (which you will need to pay as it isn't included in the build) Build Time: Well mine is 5 weeks past the completion date and will probably extend further. 12 months from settlement of land. Buil...

Our neighbour is about a 3 weeks late. Funny how we are swaying back and forward with who's infront. We are just getting our kitchen in now, and the bricks are 1/2 done. I swear fairmont just have a big hat with names in it, and when your name is plucked out then you get something done on your house.

I think we are supposed to have practical completion mid February. We are planning to move first week of March. I have the first two weeks of March off so I hope it isn't delayed too much... how about you?

You are not alone with the frustration towards Fairmont Homes. Finals Builders Interview - It did seem very forced. Fortunately we came into the meeting with a bunch of questions, my wife works in an affiliated industry and knows what she wants, and that it can be done (even if Fairmont say they can...

I should clarify. If you want nicer stuff through Fairmont the prices are excessive. Laminate vs stone is a different ballgame. If you push for a butt joint with laminate in theory they should, but they will charge through the nose though. After doing the run around we found out it was cheaper for F...

We asked about this, they refused to do a mitred joint, said it was too hard... No comment on that haha. The slab end is a huge ripoff too. Just have to bend over and take what you're given with Fairmont. If you want better stuff you have to use a bespoke builder. That said there is no real reason F...

Sorry, yes building with Fairmont. It has been a long process. By the time we get handover, it will be 2 years from walking into Fairmont and actually getting the house. Not all Fairmonts fault, but as mentioned earlier, communication and after sales service is woeful. Would also chuck my name in wi...

Interesting thread. We just had fascias done. Frame was done 6 weeks after slab, seems the standard. Windows the next week. Fascias this week. Roof next week hopefully. I noticed a few weeks ago Fairmont had a big ad in the paper asking for tradies. Lets hope they filled the holes and the build gets...

We had our fascias done the other day, gutters are probably done but not checked it out yet. Still no roofing stuff delivered, hopefully next week. Have no-one to do stormwater yet. We need some retaining/fencing/concreting, no doubt while they are there with equipment they will do it for a good pri...
