We have just been through this & managed with sheets ok until our blinds were ready. I didn't want to pre-order the blinds as I needed to see the house finished first to be sure about the colours. Now as for sticking the blinds up - we have been using the 3M adhesives for putting up pictures &am...

Hi there, we are building with Henley but I'm sure the kickboard colours are probably the same as PD. The stainless steel kickboard we have is called Zincworks. We have also gone for the all white kitchen (polar wite) with the stainless steel kickboard. We have just had everything installed & it...

Has anyone recently had flooring laid by either Perfect Timber Flooring (PTF) or Unique Timber Flooring (UTF) from Hoppers Crossing? Both companies have given very similar quotes for installing our floating floorboards and I plan to put down our deposit this week. Do you have any feedback? Because t...

Hi all, I'm hoping some nice person will give me some ideas for carpet. I have done the rounds visiting ***, Western Distributers, Carpet Choice etc etc and just can't settle on a carpet. Its not that I'm particulary fussy - its just that there are so many choices I get totally overwhelmed & can...

We bought a front loader about a year ago and would never go back to a top loader. Ours is not an expensive one (Ariston brand) but the quality of the wash is fantastic. Its definetly gentler on clothes and never leaves fluff behind like our front loader did. Though the wash cycle is longer in a fro...

We were recently at a country pub that had a small 'alfresco' area heated by 4 electric heaters. I was completely sold on this type of heating (and it wasn't the beer, really!). Not sure what brand the heaters were but each heater was around 0.5m long and maybe 20 cm wide. They were black in colour ...

Your house is looking fantastic! It must have been SO exciting to see the cupboards have arrived. The next few weeks should be even more exciting as more colour is added with the painting & tiling. Congratulations!

Hi Penny, we are building in Point Cook at the moment and currently live in the area. If you have any questions re. schools etc pm me and I'll try to help. The block sizes in Point Cook are mostly fairly small so do be careful about any easements on the property. We got caught with this, we were tol...

Hi Ray, we are in a difficult position at the moment so I can really relate to this topic. Our current house has settlement on the 20th May, when we agreed to this back in December we had a slab and the frame was starting so it seemed 5 months was heaps of time. As you said its all the delays like c...

2/10 for us. Our CSR is lovely & friendly but her weekly update is totally useless. She tells me things that have usually happened a week ago (eg the brick layers finish on a Friday and have packed up and gone - a week later our CSR says 'the bricklayers are nearly finished'). It drives me crazy!

I noticed the Cottlesloe was missing from the Henl#y ad in Saturdays HeraldSun Home magazine but they are still advertising it on their website. While having a look at the website it looks like they are now advertising 2 different Carinya's (the one we are building) and yet they are both the same si...

The local water company actually put in the water meter and tap - its not the builders. I know this from experience as our meter and tap got put on the wrong block and it took 3 months for the water company to come and move it! Not sure who notifies them - it may be that the council notify the water...

We are building at the moment and have chosen a white kitchen. I really like that white kitchens give a classic feel that don't date to quickly. My only worry is whether I'll be able to keep it clean with 3 young kids! We chose the following options and with floorboards hope this will give a nice fl...
