I live a townhouse complex which was built in 2008/2009 (first handover 2008, last handover 2009). We have a drain in the communal driveway which the concrete around is crumbling away. I'm not sure about the compressor, the fan on the outside unit is going. How can I tell if the compressor is going?

My aircon is blowing out air but not cooling. I'm getting an error message on my Actron Air Conditioner which when I look up the faul codes it says - communication error between indoor and outdoor. As per my instructions I've tried turning it off at the mains and then on again. Has anyone had any ex...

I want to do something to our verge area. Its currently just weeds and mud. Can anyone suggest some very hardy plants that might work? I live in a set of 24 communal townhouse which means we have a lot of visitors, so they are always tramping over the verge and 24 bins go out every week, so would ne...

Who would I speak to about moving letterboxes? Australia Post, Council? Basically, I live in a block of 24 townhouses with communal letterboxes, but we each have an individual house number (ie 34, 36, 38 etc not 34A, B, C). My townhouse is right next to the letterboxes and everyone keeps chucking th...

tpin, whose your supervisor / CSC? I built with Rossdale about 18 months ago. I found going to my CSC before my supervisor was the only way things got accomplished. She chase things up very quickly with the supervisor and would often call me to say she didn't have any answer to my question, but was ...

I think in regards to payment that may depend on your contract. I had a HIA contract and I can't remember the exact wording but I think that if there were minor things that were incomplete / needed fixing you still had to accept handover / pay and they were dealt with in the defects liability period.

I did and I wouldn't again. However my situation was a bit different. I built in a new complex, house & land package (it was a special deal). Was told by the salesperson absolutely no changes (ie no upgrading of appliances) and found out that others were allowed to. I did have a good experience ...

Has anyone heard of Tap N Go laminate flooring? I'm trying to see if they have a website to find out who stocks it. I found it in one store, but I don't really like the staff so would prefer to go elsewhere.

I've built in a new development and have been told by the builder that we have to pay for water and electricity during construction. I've been told this after handover. Theres nothing in the contract and no-one else in the development was made aware of it previously. They've said its company policy....

Thanks Nic ;) Well I did get a few ideas from alarm companies and all said it would probably be easier to get it during the build. So we will just stick with the $1292 for the alarm with PD :) If pricing isn't too much different, in the long run it might be easier to get it done with through the bu...

I can't comment on which ones are good, as my builder isn't on the list. But I can definately NOT recommend sterling. Friends are currently building with them and having nothing but trouble. I also know someone that used to do work for them and he said they weren't very good (trying not to say too m...

I'm not 100% sure on this, but doesn't the Institute of Architects have a dispute resolution service (assuming this person is a member of the institute)? Maybe try contacting them for advice. Unfortunately, these are the sort of architects that give everyone a bad name. My uncle is an architect and ...

I've just discovered this issue when looking at flooring on the weekend. I really wanted timber, but on the advice of the flooring people I'm going laminate. Not just for the shoes, but I mentioned I have cats and they said they might scratch the floor.

I have a very small (6m x 2.4m) front yard (which is my only yard) and the first thing you see when you walk in is the wall with my HWS, Rainwater Tank, Air Conditioning on it. I'm wondering if its possible to put some kind of screen in front of it, that would still allow you to access behind it. I ...

I'm finally ready to get flooring installed. Does anyone know if there are any auction houses in Adelaide like *** Auctions in Vic? I've had handover of my unit, but haven't finished installing the HWS. On recommendation of the builder, I got the bottom (the tank?) bit installed but not the top half as they said if I'm not living in the house it is likely to be stolen as its easy to remove. What I'm wondering is there anyway to ...
