Hi Roomeat. Great idea. We've just finished a build in Middle Park, Brisbane with Steve Parcell Builders. Happy for you to add us to your list as a reference for others if you wanted. All the best.

I reckon Woodland Grey & Dune work great together - but then I have to say that as we've just used them in our build! We have a Woodland Grey roof with Dune garage door & Dune cladding and we've had nothing but positive comments when people come to visit. Good luck.

Congratulations Yvonne. I agree with gandn that now the hard work starts with the garden etc, but it's so much more bearable once the house is finished and you have the keys. Look forward to seeing the progress.

We had handover a week and a half ago - everything went to plan with just a few minor paint touchups etc to finish things off - and we are now happily settling ourselves in. Here's a few final pictures...... http://i1175.photobucket.com/albums/r627/thebrolga/P1010199_zpsceunsb17.jpg http://i1175.pho...

Good to see things are back on track for you Yvonne. I reckon the portaloo going is a sure sign you're almost there! Ours went yesterday and we've been told handover will be early next week when the builder has completed a couple of things the certifier wanted.

Yes - that's the idea cat_dunc. We thought it would do away with the need for a dressing table in the bedroom. We actually found a nice small white seat which fits under that area perfectly from Aldi of all places.

Your dilemma sounds identical to the one we faced. We ended up going with the custom builder that we felt really good about right from the start. We did spend alot of time talking to project builders as well as another custom builder, and found that once we started comparing like with like (eg the f...

Very observant Mr Bee. The green dots are where we want our towel hooks placed. For a number of reasons we went with these rather than towel rails. The bamboo colour is 'coffee' TraceyWayne. It's Arc Quick Step.

Our flooring layer also cut into the plasterboard to give extra room for expansion. Definitely sounds like a good idea for that huge room of yours. We would have loved to have gotten away without any joins, but because we have a change of direction from our hall to the living room we had to have one...

Time seems to have gone so quickly and we only have a week or so to go before handover - and yet there's still so much we need to do/buy ourselves before we can move in. Progress since the last update is that the bamboo flooring went in - and we're very happy with how it looks...... http://i1175.pho...

The last couple of weeks have been taken up mainly with internal stuff - the tiling is almost finished and the electrics are now all in. The builder has given us a completion schedule of all the work that needs completing and when it will be done - with a proposed handover date of 7 May. Here's a fe...

It's an acrylic render that was painted - not sure of the brand. I think the actual colour is a little lighter/whiter than it appears in the picture. I'll see if I can get another one of the outside at the weekend and post it with the next lot of pics.

Thanks all. In response to the questions asked: * I think the fact there are few weeds growing is a reflection of the soil quality - lots of clay. Unfortunately if weeds aren't able to grow, I fear we're going to have our work cut out planting a garden. * Not sure what's going in the hallway niche y...

Hey Yvonne. Just checked all the pics on your blog and the place is looking great. Did I see somewhere that you were thinking of gabbion walls? My neighbour & I have just built some and they're not too shabby if I say so myself. Let me know if you're still interested and I'll see if I can post a...

Thanks for all the comments folks - as said previously, we're very happy with the way things are going. I'm not quite sure what the decking timber is TraceyWayne. We did originally plan on stainless steel wire but switched to glass. A bit risky perhaps being next to a golf course, but we've only fou...

Looking forward to the pictures Yvonne as I've always felt there are a number of similarities between our builds and what we're trying to achieve. Our painter will actually finish first before the tiler comes in - and yes we decided to go with the bathroom & ensuite being fully tiled.
