We would have loved a glass splashback but couldn't justify the cost of it at the moment. Instead of standard ceramic tiles though, we chose polished porcelain. They have more of a glass look and have less grout in between meaning a bit easier to keep clean as well!

Blueprint was originally one of our top choices, but not once we met with the rep. We basically had two plans which we wanted to merge together and make various changes to, but the guy we spoke to seemed more keen on selling us one of their standards plans and saying things like "why would you ...

Perth seems so expensive compared to some of these figures! Although I guess it's hard to compare. Ours was $293k for 491sqm in Canning Vale WA.

That's great news! But a little worrying that they were quite happy to charge you the $6000 if they thought you wouldn't question it. Good on you for pushing it.

8 weeks is crazy! We had prestart on Monday this week and got our variations back yesterday. There's no way it should take that long. Good point about the air con - looking at those promotions with free stuff, I always wonder if there's a catch somewhere.

I've been quoted $197 for the water connection in our fridge recess. Thought this was quite reasonable and much easier to do now than later on when we may actually have a fridge which needs it!

We had the road and kerbs done probably 2 months before our titles issued, but street signs and lights were only a few weeks before.

This is similar to what happened to us. Initially we were quoted somewhere between $2000-$3000 for soakwells, but by the time we got our contracts, the figure had gone up to over $5000. Apparently the council we are in recently changed their requirements from allowing for a 1 in 100 year downpour to...

Have you considered taking tiles out from the kitchen for a credit and doing glass splash back post handover? I found that doing things afterwards saves a bit of money (in most cases) I got a quote from a supplier, then new gen, and I think there was a $200 difference. However new gen are putting i...

I'm also building with New Generation and am very excited to get started! Our land finally settled last week, we've signed our building contract and have prestart in 3 weeks. Does anyone know how much a glass splashback for the kitchen might cost? I think the area is about 2 metres long.
