If it's upstairs, waterproof the entire bathroom floor. Are you waterproofing before or after screed? Personally, I get the plumbing sorted first including the puddle flange, then have the tiler screed and then waterproof on top of screed and into puddle flanges. I use waterproofing tape on all int...

Just trying to find out what the minimum step down depth is or if there is any regulations enforcing it? I'm trying to do a 20mm screed on my concrete floor but then I realize I wouldn't have much room left for the shower area to have a step down because the shower area needs a fall to the drainage...
You technically don't need any step down into the shower area. You can simply have a flat floor that extends right thro...

Hi, Just curious how do you have the frameless shower screen sits above the waterstop angle? Isn't the angle suppose to come above the finished tile floor level a little bit (5-10mm I guess). I thought the frameless screen itself should sit right on the tile outside the shower area? Thanks The tile...

Quick question guys; planning on renovating the bathroom, and going for a hobless shower with frameless shower screen. Looking at the JH guide, and it shows a waterstop angle underneath the shower screen (see attached pic), which makes sense for the pic below because the waterproof membrane is only...

At 40mm you are looking at 9.2m³ of screed. That's basically a 10m tip truck full. A typical sand and cement screed will be the most cost effective. You can get large trucks that mix screed on site and pump it in. It will be much quicker to use this. It's a question of working out the costs for tra...
Thanks Chippy. Any ideas how much 9.2m3 would cost?

Any reason why you wouldnt go traditional sand/cement screed? Because I heard that traditional sand and cement will tend to crack or shrink where the floor heating is.

Looking to put a screed on a new concrete floor which is around 230sqm, part of the floor has electric underfloor heating systems. Which kind of screed would be the best to use? I have heard of Davco Lanko 189 bulk fill screed, they seems very high strength but not sure how many square metres a 20kg...

Yeah they still refer to this specific type of wall panelling in Australia as Wainscoting. Intrim recommend using Inlay Mould IN23 with Chair Rail CR22 for 18mm wide architraves, and CR99 with IN32 for 30mm architraves. We wanted to have the bathroom floor same height as the bedroom, all rooms are on one same level of concrete floor now. My question is if I can use power tools to remove 40mm of the current concrete floor so when tiles plus adhesive put down they will meet my timber floor level in the bedroom? Is it...

You don't need a laser level but a straight edge a couple of metres long to see where high points on your brickwork would be handy. Pack them out and/or plane the battens to suit. Studs are usually 450 -600mm so I'd err on the side of caution and make them 450mm but that also depends on how thick y...
Stewie, just wanted to check should I lay my battens at 450mm space horizontally or vertically?

I'd probably use 40 x 19mm. You will need to run another beading or pack out where your wainscotting meets any doorjambs. Stewie Do I need a laser level when setting out the batten and what distance should I keep in between each batten?
