Hi Everyone, We have tried to do most of what you guys are suggesting already. The problem is our Architect keeps stalling, changing his mind and won't agree to our set proposal from here. He is also not listening to us and our ideas. He has offered to hand us over to one of his coworkers instead of...

Thank RobbieBob, We are only removing one tree. The problem isn't with the council, it's that the said designed house did not take into account the SLO2 of the land. Which ever way we go, it's a total redesign. We have had 2 meetings with the council and it was the first where we discovered the prob...

Thanks everyone for your input. I have just sent off an email requesting a full refund. I dont expect this will be met with much joy and I am sure it will only cost us more in the long run, but if I dont make a stand, who will? I will keep you posted. Now from here, how to move forward? Do I look fo...

Well its been awhile since I have been here, I must say. I am now 2 years in and still have nothing to show for it. I purchased a sloping block in the north east of Melbourne. For the past year I have been working with an Architect. We put our plans into council a month or so ago, only to hit a what...

Hi there, We are in Melbourne's north east and are looking to build a custom home on a sloping block. The earthworks and footings along with services have been done by the previous owner. We have ourselves a great Architect that has so far drawn up concept drawings and is about ready to submit to co...

Snowing your house looks great. I will be watching for updates. Thanks for the two leads. My friend has actually come back to me and suggested a PM (project manager) he will be forwarding me some contacts and details in the next few days. So I guess, one door may have closed but a few more have open...

Hi HomeAngels, snowing & PAB_34, thank you all for your replies. We thought the same as you HA as we too believed that any custom home builder would be willing to build with steel. Well, we were wrong. We did think we had a builder but as of yesterday they pulled out after seeing the site. They w...

Hi I am trying this for a second time as I did not seem to get much help the first time I tried. I have a sloping block in Melbourne. I want to use a builder that constructs with a steel frame. Does anyone know someone or can point me in the right direction to find a decent builder to build our home?

Hi MattC123, Thanks for being the only person to respond to me. We dont actuall have a steel frame yet or even an actual plan as yet. All we have are our ideas and the desire to build a steel framed home. We like the idea of a steel frame because it is a change to the building industry and one that ...

Ok so we have purchased a sloping block of land in Eltham North. Planning to build a custom built home on it for ourselves for at least the next 15 years. We have our hearts set on a steel framed home of about 35sq two stories on top of a garage. We have been looking for a builder and although we ha...
