Just a quick update for anyone still interested. We got the letter in the mail yesterday letting us know that the land will be titled soon. So we need to go to our solicitor ASAP to terminate the contract. Hoping that doesn't cost us too much as we can barely scrape $100 together at the moment! If h...

Hey Stellabella, still no good news. We keep having to use money out of our savings to scare by every week - out of the $25,000 we had saved up, we only have $5,500 left as of this week. The estate manager that we were waiting on an answer from quit a couple of months ago and I have been in contact ...

Hey Stellabella, Not much news as yet, spoke to the bank & they definitely can't lend us the money as we've had to use about $14k of our savings for hubby to get to & from work as he has a job from home for now until we can get him back to the mines. Plus we're back to struggling to make end...

Thanks lovely! He's been wanting to get up to QLD for a while, he's an all round operator so does the earthworks etc, but hasn't been able to find any FIFO work up there doing what he does. If your DH knows of anything he would be more than happy to apply! Apparently a lot of places don't even adver...

Hi Stellabella, We live in Vic. If we lived around Perth he would get a job easily enough doing FIFO but apparently they're trying to stop employing from the Eastern states - and if they do, we'd have to pay for flights from Melbourne to Perth, which isn't cheap! There was a subject to finance claus...

Hey guys, Just thought I'd update you on things! Sadly, hubby was laid off from his FIFO job in WA late last week and its not looking good for him to get another job over there. Without that income, there is a high chance that we won't be able to scrape together the rest of the money to get the loan...

Thanks for the advice! I think you may have commented on my thread once before, I made it after we'd decided on the design we were going to build lol. It doesn't get much action at the moment but once things start happening I'm sure I'll be commenting heaps! We've definitely made a great choice with...

Hi, I know this was last talked about in November so you may have already locked in a builder by now - we're going to be building in Jackson's View and decided to go through Hotondo. They are a little more expensive than some of the other builders we looked at but have been through a few of their ho...

Oh yep, I get you now. Looks like we might have to save up a teeny bit extra to avoid that LMI then lol!! And by teeny bit, a lot haha!! Thanks for the info, I'm glad I asked the question rather than get to that point in time and find out that we've been knocked back for the house loan because of LM...

Thanks heaps for the info Tom! We probably wont be going for the construction loan until around the end of next year as thats roughly when we'll be able to have the 5% for the builder saved up. So I dont know whether the bank will combine the 2 loans or whether they will be 2 separate. The bank mana...

Hi Guys, I'm just wondering, when it comes to the block of land that we're purchasing and also the house that we'll be putting on it later on, do any deposits that we save come off the total loan amount or do they just get paid off the loan (meaning that our repayments are still for the total amount...

Hi Kiwi, Things are going well!! We had to scale the house back a bit as our initial quote was $374,500 lol! We took on board people's advice with the cutting back - when I jump on the computer I'll post a pic of the floor plan =) we're now sitting around the $360,000 mark - which is still probably ...
