basalt roof and gutters. Surfmist fascia, garage door. Monument windows. They are austral bricks from the industrial range. We used the dark brick (Char) for the main section and the light brick (Steel) as a feature around garage, pillars and end room. I think they may only be available in Victoria ...

You have possibly already made your decision but hope this helps. We chose basalt roof and gutters. Surfmist fascia, garage door and render. Monument windows. https://i2.au.reastatic.net/800x600-resize,extend,r=33,g=40,b=46/9a0582cd9f13671ff4912d3bfee81c8bb9c6dc7d43b6232f6366a46f8c084359/image5.jpg

Agree with qubtel. Be really careful to agree just because they are being nice. Of course they are playing nice, they don't want you to force a rebuild. Also, why are you even discussing a reduction in final payment? Surely that is only 10% of the total build cost. I don't know the cost of your buil...

Hi Kei, I don't have any advice for you, sorry, but I wanted to say how sorry I am to read this thread. What a nightmare for you when you are so close. How is everything going? Any further progress? The builders should be doing everything they can to come to a fair arrangement with you. They have st...

I prefer a built in oven. We have a 900mm at bench height. I like it. In another build we are currently doing we have gone for 2 600mm in a tower above each other. I personally don't like that look of the freestanding as much (only my opinion), it means that the bench stops and there is a small gap ...

I would have the opening end closest to the ensuite end. That way, you don't have to walk around the bed to get out the door.

Are you having eaves? Are you double glazing? What type of window covering will you have? A north facing bedroom will get the winter sun and if you have eaves you should block a fair amount of the high summer sun. A west window will get all the hot afternoon sun. A south facing bedroom can be cold i...

I like it, I would keep the black splashback or go for a smokey mirror look (or this may even be something you could decide once the kitchen is in?) but I would change the pendants to white (I know you probably haven't decided on your exact pendants yet). I personally don't like kitchens that have s...

With the easement being there, it looks like it will be pretty tight. In my opinion, teenagers mean the pool needs to be bigger rather than smaller. You should take your plan to some local pool companies for their opinion. They will tell you what will work the best for your site. Good luck, a pool c...

I think you will struggle to get keys but, like aloenyx said, you could negotiate times to be there when tradies are there so you can still keep an eye on things.

What is the overall size of your garage? Just thinking about how much room you will have around your cars? I would be going into the corner or offset like the other side if you want storage all the way across. Going around the car and entering the house right about where the side mirror is on your c...

You have plenty of space around your island, for me, I would increase the width and length (as much as you can afford). You will never regret a bigger island. It absolutely doesn't matter if it lines up with the fridge cavity. If it was my home, I would increase it to 3000x1200. Seems like you have ...

I think the pattern is subtle enough that they would go together ok but personally, I think all white OR black and white cupboards would look better. Let the calacatta Nuvo shine as the feature. You don't want it competing with the cupboards.

For me, I think somewhere in between is your answer. Do a space for a TV unit in the corner and then the fire next to it. I don't think it needs to be centred to the room when the room is open and essentially there is no wall between sitting and dining. The TV/fire should be in the living space and ...

Hi hachy, We have a mainly white kitchen with a set of black upright and overhead cupboards. We went with white bar stools because it blended rather than stuck out. Black would've matched or grey in your case but in the end we decided that we wanted the kitchen itself to be the feature rather than t...
