I think a 32A 3 phase outlet in the garage is a very sensible idea. At the bare minimum you can charge using an appropriate cable and tail available from stores like EVSE. Alternatively, if things change, and you need a special “smart” charger you have an appropriate cable in the wall already, and c...

Viburnum. If you plant them 40-50cm apart, it’s unlikely they’ll grow above 2-3m high.

What's the budget? These are 12-24V LED - great quality but not cheap. http://www.rockaroundtheblock.com.au/garden-lighting.html

In addition, oysters are grown on treated pine with 4 or more times the concentration of the treatment. You don't need to worry about leeching once the timber is dry (and yours is).

has any one connected the dishwasher with hot water connection? Few dishwashers can be connected to hot water. I understand that saves time and energy if it is solar hot water. Miele dishwashers with the "Thermosave" logo on them are some if the few models on the market than can take hot ...

Ezyhd.com.au is where I buy all mine. You can buy cheaper elsewhere (slightly) but they are all plastic. Ezyhd's have metal connectors. They arrive next day.

Looks great ::lol:: I would recommend Fiskars PowerGear hedge shears over Cyclone brand - they are geared and increase the power you can exert. They're also *very* light so you don't get dead arms when trimming all day.

Don't buy them from a shop - they are NOT worth $50- $300! Buy them from either Cablechick or EzyHD and save a fortune (I use EzyHD - they normally come within a day). An HDMI cable either is 1.3b certified or it isn't, and it either works or it doesn't.

I am with ANZ and I was told I could go into CBA (builder's bank) and direct deposit to their account. But how do I do this if I don't bank with CBA? You do not need to bank with a particular bank to go in and deposit into someone's account. You simply take your funds (whether it be cash, cheque or...

Solar water fountains don't work unless they are essentially a solar panel charging a battery, with associated electronics to control the system? Why? Think about how you use a fountain. Normally you want it on at specific times of day, or when guests are visiting. A solar system can only provide el...

Treated pine has no nasties that can be released unless you burn it. It's a chemical process and once the treatment has cured (takes 3-6 wks after processing) you cannot release the CCA until the timber is burned. I would go for treated pine. It's a plantation timber so is better for the environment...

I want to install a motion sensor at the other end (ie. opposite end to the transformer). Has anyone seen anything that'll work (ie. waterproof and 12V)? Aquatran make a 12V outdoor motion sensor: Aquatran Motion Sensor timer switch 240V - Wall mount - AQT-003

Wouldn't using 12V lights be a huge power drain? (just like halogen downlights vs CFLs) Huge? It's all relative I suppose. 10 x 20w lights running off a 200VA transformer would cost you about $180 a year if you ran it 24x7. If you ran it 2 hours a day, it'd be $15 a year. At least it works when you...

Are you really sure you want to use solar lighting? All solar lighting I've seen is... pretty poor! 12V AC Lighting is the way to go - with 20 or 35w bulbs. Use a thick trunk cable out through the garden, and a thinner cable from the trunk line out to each individual light. There are also accessorie...

The other advantage of this approach is the computers typically use around 250 watts of electricity. A DVD Player, amplifier and Set Top Box would reasonably consume more than that power combined. I think you've got this quite wrong and you might need to reconsider. My DVD player uses 8W when on, a...

Thankyou. We don't like the look of sleepers or logs, and actually plan on laying bricks in front of the boring concrete slab to make it look nice. OK - that's different then ;) Stick to the in=out rule with your posts and all should be well.
