Re: Splashback - Caesarstone or glass
Kitchen Corner

We went with caesarstone counter top and glass splashback. We picked a dark colour for the counter top so we didn't want it as splashback. It would absorb and reduce illumination from the task lighting lamps installed under the overhead cupboards.

Like previous poster I think the doors have been made taller to recover the kickboard area. I suppose this design would require a perfect flat floor around the cupboard for the doors to swing out.

Building A New House

We were also considering LED for the supposed low running costs but purchase prices were too high. We also arrived to same conclusion that it would take many years to break even. We went with CFL lamps and nighty five percent of lamps in our house are of this type even down lights. Those that are no...

I also like your revised kitchen layout. We have similar island configuration and we put the sink toward one end so it leaves more working space on the other side. It seems that you have an open plan and I was wondering if a 600mm wide rangehood would provide enough suction power to extract cooking ...

This is our second summer (if you can call it a summer) with a Breezair evap and we also started to have the smell every time we turned the unit on for maybe 5 minutes. I did a couple of complete drains but the smell was still there. After maybe 15 minutes on we felt like the smell went away (or we ...

We were also interested in having handleless drawers and cupboard doors for our kitchen. The kitchen company we used had a sharknose handleless kitchen in their showroom and we liked the clean lines of it. But they told us handleless drawers were more expensive because there were more work involved ...

Hi, We were also interested to have a Schweigen Rangehood but could not find an installer locally ;-( The ones that were willing to install had to come from interstate and would charge extra for travel. Hi, The kitchen company we went with also carried both brands. We ended up with Ceasarstone (cashmere). Have been happy with the product. Easy care with damp soft cloth. The black colours you're considering look great. Maybe you could ask your kitchener to show you if they have installed those bench...

Hi, You can visit Actpla in Dickson and request a list of licensed certifiers. Alternatively try this page http://www.actpla.act.gov.au/topics/hiring_licensing/find_professional/list where you can download an online copy. Are you thinking not to use the certifier your builder usually works with?

you can ask your builder to upgrade them to be ducted to the outside air (it's usually a few hundred dollars extra per exhaust fan/rangehood). In our case we paid extra to have the rangehood ducted to the outside. Didn't want to have food grease and smoke ending up in the ceiling space.

Hi, It seems that our ceiling heat and fans in bathrooms and showers are not ducted to the outside. They just extract humid air to the void below roof. It sounds like your models are designed to be ducted to the outside though. You might want to check that with the builder or installer?
