hey Sunshine, you can do it in whatever time frame you want, we had the time so it was no big issue to us. You have to be out a month before all the services are abolished because they all state they need to allow a period of 20 working days to get it done. We moved out start of September, arranged ...

We demolished our house last year in Melbourne. We wanted to recycle as much as we could, interestingly enough the companies who were prepared to do lots of recycling were the most expensive. I ended up finding out what the demo guy would only send to the tip and I put it up on Freecycle. We had tri...

I agree BurleighJ, glad your build is going well. Actually the others I have heard of who are building with Onley are happy too so they must be doing all right. I think if you started a thread trashing some of the big builders (Met$%con, Hen^&y, etc) you would get heaps of complaints as well as ...

grooves down! Our previous house had grooves up merbau, what a waste. Not only did everything underneath rot through but it was painful to walk on after a while. The boards also had cracks from the nails as well. Definitely go grooves down from now on.

Was the problem with Premier or Onley? Onley have only been building for Premier for less than a year I thought. And room4acubby had Romeo as a builder and the "problem" at Romeo has been dealt with. We are building with Premier, Prime are our doing the build. We are really happy with thei...

Ask any SES member and they will tell you to go for colorbond and make sure you have eaves. They do a lot of call outs to homes where the tiles have moved in high wind, especially brand new homes. And no eaves is a recipe for overflow disaster in the guttering. Just my humble opinion of course.

Hey Justin and Michelle, I understand the concern about walking through the kitchen, it does seem a little awkward. Can I ask if you already have kids or not? The reason I ask is that if you have teens I could understand the beds at the front etc but as a mum of young kids I prefer my kids at the re...

How long is a piece of string? Costing a house is all dependent on the materials you use so very hard to know without knowing what they are. If you are going for a custom build you can roughly say anywhere from $10000- per sq to $20,000 per square...just depends on what its made of and how expensive...

We are about to start building our new home and are going over our contract. Our house is slightly raised at the front requiring stairs and an alfresco area out the back that we have nominated to arrange building rather than have the builder do it. So I am going through the contract and it says that...
