Front landscaping was completed today - though for some reason Exterior (the landscapers) swapped out the nice colourful native plants on our design for grassy (most likely cheaper) ones. I have sent them an email asking for an explanation. As usual - more pics on the blog - http://stonecuttersridg...
Hi sc, who was your landscaper, if you would tell me? Just Exterior? Can you also tell me what colour is your driveway?...

I believe if the extension is older than 7 yrs, then it shouldn't be a problem. What does the Council say? You should be able to find out under FOI.

We didn't end up going with Samrite - but the quality of the product looked ok - I was tossing up between flyscreen and Crimsafe door for an upper balcony - ended up with Crimsafe The mesh choice is up to you - we had to quote on steel mesh because we are in a very high bush fire danger area.

We've now had ours for almost a year and we haven't had any problems with balancing. A regular fan is a bit more quiet but most lights in fans are pretty pathetic. Also - a lot of people don't realise that you're supposed to start your fan on the fastest speed for a few minutes first to balance the ...

Hey Lex I'll try and take a pic later when I get home from work. I called a flyscreen place at Quakers Hill (small company) and they could do a steel flyscreen door in timber trim for about $350. No bars - just the frame and screen. Samrite http://www.startlocal.com.au/home/alarm/nsw_sydney/Samrite_...

Hmmm :th: The first words written on my bottle of sugar soap are.. Directions; DO NOT USE ON GLASS. But after reading some of your posts you guys have used it (some undiluted) & had good results on shower screens??? Do you think maybe it could weaken the glass over time & cause it to shatte...

We wouldn't rely on them to provide too much security, it's more that they wouldn't need any bars, just the mesh, so they would look better on our front doors   . BTW, does anyone have this mesh as a window "fly"screen in an awning window? I wonder if it could be easily lifted...
If it's not for security - why not just get a regular fly screen door with a timber finish frame? I have awning windows...

A few things I've found so far when deciding b/w Crimsafe 304 SS and a 316 SS mesh (eg. Invisi-gard): - Crimsafe mesh is attached to frame with little screws; they are visible on the frame - Crimsafe mesh seems to be a tiny bit more see-through than a 316 SS mesh - Price depends on the supplier, se...

On painted walls it needs to be slightly damp - but it will remove some of the finish so be very gentle! Go hammer and tongs on tiles :)

If it's a builder from a neighbouring site and your house is established - call your energy company to order a power industry lock - only the meter reader and you have a key :)

Hey Southies - I use diluted sugar soap in a spray bottle (about 1:4) and a magic eraser (instead of a sponge). Took 10 months of soap scum off the wall tiles really quickly and easily

The winch is manual - hubby gets into the roof to do it. I think the winch parts were about $200 plus a day's work for a sparky $400. This was mates rates though!!

We aren't big on old fashioned chandeliers either but they are just great. blueblueblue - the wires are teflon coated and the crystals don't have a charge - so technically they shouldn't attract dust or require cleaning for 8-10 years. The harder part is changing lightglobes! But the chandelier is a...

House is already built! This was just a pic from the framing stage. It's a 2 storey brick and the wall just goes straight up with no change in materials. Lex - we're in a new estate and one of the first houses to finish - so now there's plenty of construction! I just walked around one afternoon and ...

Hi all, In a brick veneer house - is the purpose of wall studs mainly to give you something to hang the gyprock on? I ask because between my laundry door and perpendicular wall I have a 70cm stretch of wall in which I would like to put a dog door - I've marked it in red in the pic http://i233.photob...
