I was wanting to plaster using a gyprock basecoat between the asbestos sheet joints. This was preferred over placing a new gyprock sheeting over the asbestos. I tried it with the paper tape and so far have had no cracking.

Has anyone ever plastered over asbestos sheets? Is there anything to consider when doing this?

The paper tape still caused some cracking. My guess on the cause is due to the difference in thickness of the masonite (3mm) versus the gyprock (10mm). Either the masonite sheet is too flexible or the plastering behind the tape is too thin (3mm on the masonite). Another tape exists for external wall...

I am building kitchen cabinets out of Melamine covered particle board. I would like to have a finish on one of the melamine cabinet faces which matches the existing cabinet door (gloss white finish). Plus it covers some exposed countersunk screw holes. Does anyone know of a product that I can use to...

I have masonite ceilings which are butt joined with edge stripping. I've removed the strip and have used tape with a basecoat plaster to cover the join. In some instances I get cracking. What is the science behind why masonite cracks in this situation, yet gyprock doesn't?

I am removing an internal wall that runs parallel with the ceiling joists (100x50 @ 3.5m span). The problem: This wall supports one end of a binder running mid-span and perpendicular to the ceiling joists - (100x50 @ 6m span). If I remove this wall how should I support the binder? Possible solution ...
