What about maple for the stairs? Would they be a good match for Sydney Blue Gum?

Needing some advice and opinion... I currently have a cypress pine floor, with carpet on top. I was thinking of pulling up the carpets, and installing a hardwood floor on top (Sydney blue gum). The new flooring will run into the kitchen as well, which will also be a new kitchen. 1. Is it a good idea...

Clear glass is cheaper than frosted, so I would not be surprised that the builder has taken the cheaper option, if this is not spelled out in the contract.

My research so far (including talking with prospective builders) is that it will depend on what is to be done, and how much is to be done (in floor space area). An early estimate has been about $250k for 83 sqm of floor space area. However, this price is highly variable, as it will depend on the mat...

I could not find any threads on Homeone from anyone adding a 2nd level to and existing house. I am interested to learn more about things to be aware of, materials used, time taken, disruption to family life, and pitfalls.

Sorry I forgot to say that I will be adding a 2nd level to the house, and remodelling the downstairs. Does it matter?

Do I still need to maintain my normal house insurance during the building phase? I am referring to the normal house insurance one generally have to protect against damage. Or that is not necessary because the builder has his own insurance? I kinda guessing that I would need normal house insurance to...

Our minor ensuites are all 4m2, main ensuite is a bit over 17.4sq2. Powder rooms are a little over 3msq. 17.4 sqm for an ensuite? That's massive!

In particular, I am interested to find out if they would discolour under the harsh Australian sun (in due course). I like the sturdy frame and mechanism, as well as the glazing, but am worried about the potentia...
