The soil test was conducted by them in Nov’07 and we finally got the quote (in Jan 08) with the total site cost and variation cost etc. The cost they have quoted us is outrageous as I haven’t seen anything like this before. We are still in shock with this horrendous cost of Slab and Concrete. Our so...

One of the items, damaged aluminium foot treads at the bottom of the external door frames. The latest update is "nothing we can do except patch it and put some paint over it." That's it...

Even if you ask for the left overs, sometimes they are thrown out or taken away. Pick them up and store them in your garage or roof space when you see them ****** about. You are right. Our builders asked us to put bricks away in the corner. tiles and paint were kept for us in the storage under the ...

they are not suitable to run during the night Only if it gets below -273 degrees celsius. Noise is not normally an issue with heat pumps, and would be the only reason not to run overnight. You probably think about standard heatpump and yes, there is no issue then. however I wrote before that this i...

I noticed some misinformation in this post: "Het Pumps not suited to warmer climate" This is not true. The principle is that a heat pump grabs available energy from the air from -273 degrees (0 degrees Kelvin), the warmer it is the more energy available to grab the more efficent the heat pump becom...

Credit where credit is due... JG King hasn't been the problem - apart from being slow to get the invoice to Windsor, they have held up their end of the bargain. I have thought about Today Tonight etc. but we'll see what the solicitor says first (better to be safe than sorry...) Because you haven't ...

I remember that one of the points for sustainable house was to see the kids play area when you are in the kitchen and that the walk way between kitchen benchtop and the wall should be bigger than 1.2m. also there was something about lockable cupboard with no easy access for kids. Mattwalker - I love...

high ceiling will keep your downstair area cooler in summer. In comparison to Clarendon I have visited, my place is much more comfortable re temperature downstairs. 10k$ is a big cost but it is worth that. We do not need to use air con even in the hot day. We use rather ceiling fans. Be careful with...

I am sorry but most of the people I met said Don't touch tamawood/Dixon. Did you build with them? If you didn't I would say you can't really comment on the experience. It's different for everyone. I am glad you had positive experience. I didn't build with them but I saw few dixon homes and had some...

Well it's done! For everyone considering Adenbrook I say go ahead! Some people have mentioned they couldn't afford Adenbrook but we found that many "extras" from others were inclusions from Adenbrook and that the quick timeframe to build saved us heaps on rent and stress. Hello and congratulations o...

Kate what does it matter if a builder is registered in Robina? Their head office is in Rocklea and you have different contractors in Brisbane than you do on the Gold Coast. There were two different sentences. Everyone has different experiences and that's why this forum is great. And this is what I ...

Hi Jet, In Brisbane I like the Pacific Pines, Springfield (has a lot of different builders), Calamvale (the same- range of builders). I do not like the Stockland behind the forest lake. I find the houses are too expensive for the way the look (apart from M3tricon, who displays I think the best house...

I am sorry but most of the people I met said Don't touch tamawood/Dixon. I also had been told think twice about any builder registered in Robina. I believe it is a question of quality you want for the house. For sure don't think that the same good builder will have the same reputation in second stat...

I was after some opinions and any technical advice regarding the location of my hotwater system for a new house. I am going with a Rheem 511-340 Solar Loline. I'm wondering how many rain days occur during a building. Could people let me know how long it took to build their house and how many rain days were claimed by the builder. Hi Ray, we were told by the M3tricon sales rep. From your first deposit to handover is a 12 month process. That put us right off - like the houses- but not that much.... 6-8 months sounds just like the actual physical build time to me - not including tender, contract signing, colour selection etc. ...
We had our double story house build in 4 months. There is no excuse for lack of work on the house so long. We did recei...
