This subject came up over dinner last night, here's some that stick in my mind: -My auntie had her house built in 1955 with pink bath and handbasin, no bath. This was matched with black and pink tiles. This was unchanged for the whole time she was there (until mid 2012) -My grandfathers bathroom was...

Pain to install-normal faceplate size is 114x73mm with 84mm mounting centres. For memory on a 80x80 plates the mounting centres are either 65 or 68mm. This will require a bit of extra work for the installing electrician to fit these off in regards to fixing points. I had to fit off some single BS136...

Gunna sound silly but I have never come across a rainwater tank with a submersible pump. Always been external to the tank. Besides noise and getting the last 4 or so inches out of the tank, what's the advantage?

Alrighty. From what you have written, its pointing to one common component as all lights exhibit the problem at the same time. I'm going to make the following assumptions: -The LED lamps are for the transformers supplied. -No other lights are on the dimmer switch except the ones in question. -No oth...

From what I remember the vents on the clothes driers at the hotels I maintained were metal. Same as the ships I look after. Can't recall using plastic vent tubes.

Nearly forgot...comms cabling for phone and data-will it be needed? Also alarm cabling. Whilst you have the trench open may as well throw the conduit in for these services if you think you may need them. When I wired my shed up I run 6mm2 power cable in 32mm conduit, three CAT5E data cables and two ...

If you dig the trench before, how long will it sit open for? Will an open trench be a safety hazard for those building the cabin? Any reason the trench can't be hand dug its only 9-12 metres?

After a while, it becomes instinct to look up and check for fans before carrying anything long into a room, lifting a small child into the air or making the bed to check for a fan. People think I've cracked when I look up and check for fans even when they don't have them in their houses.

We had 2700mm ceilings in our last two houses (Alice Springs and Darwin) with ceiling fans. Our current house in Perth has 2550mm ceilings and I have fitted ceiling fans. I haven't noticed the difference between the 150mm ceiling height. May be due to the change in climate too (currently raining and...

Exhaust fan. Leave a window/door open. Mount the drier outside or in an outbuilding.

Couple of ways to look at this issue: Whilst it is most probably easily removable with hours work an and a decent skip bin, the fact that something that is there that catches your visitors' eyes will also draw the attention of prospective buyers. If you get rid of it prior to sale and fix up/remove ...

With the door and window open, does the fan change pitch (sound deeper)? Reason I ask is if you can't get enough air into the room, the fan works harder and doesn't shift the air as well. As for the specifications for your fan, the frequency of the fan is set to match the incoming power supply to yo...

Put the drier in the shed. Keeps the lint outside, warms the shed for the dogs at night and keeps the noise out of the house if you're running it during the quieter hours.
