PD Cottesloe
Building A New House

Apr 19, 2008 9:54 am
I highly doubt that the PD Cottesloe came out of a mistake. I would say that it is more likely that they had quite a few requests for that change to be like the Francis design with a study and as a result made a new design.

Tile Colour?
Finishing Touch
1
Feb 02, 2008 8:37 am
Hi all After 4 months in our new house I have decided I really dislike the colour of the wall tiles in the bathroom and ensuite (were supposed to be off-white and have come out cream). Has anyone had experience painting tiles in a shower recess and bath hob or should I just re-tile the bathroom? Emi

Building A New House

Unfortunately you signed the variation. Harsh, perhaps but that is what they will most likely say. This happened to us with our facia/guttering. Clearly written in an email but wrong on the variation. We were a couple of days out from heading on an overseas trip and my mum was extremely ill in hospi...

We are also in Point Cook and couldn't recommend it highly enough. I work in the city and leave about 7.20 and get into the office about 8.30, thus I don't recommend it if you want to drive to work! Rellie, I think you would find if you were to buy now, there would not be 60k in it between Point Coo...

Yes they HAVE to show you evidence. But they are also entitled under the HIA contract to charge you 25% builders markup on top of that cost. ie. If the builder was charged $1000 for rock removal they will charge you $1250.

Locked up
Building A New House

I believe it depends on your builder and the method they choose under the HIA contract. It may be a % of the total progress of your home. This can mean it is classified as 'lock-up' under contract when it is not physically 'locked-up'. I would go back to your builder or contract before witholding pa...

Building A New House

We built with Porter Davis and we had a few issues and found their customer service to be lacking big time. We have a few friends that are building with Simonds in the West and have had a good run so far (at lockup and almost complete). Simonds seem to be more flexible as our friends were able to ch...

Vlad currently we live about an hours drive from where we are building (living with the in-laws) and just about every time we had been to the house it was bucketing rain and if not so boggy with mud we couldnt have a really good look. I knew something was wrong because it didn't look white but my pa...

I totally agree, we have done well out of their mistake. Like I said it wasn't worth going any further with it and I'll never be cold stepping out of the shower in the middle of winter!

Yeah I know I agree its peanuts, even more-so now, however I had a meeting with them this afternoon and basically we were told to settle or they would pull it down and start again. I met with the construction manager (ie. boss of the boss of the cso and site manager). Basically they have agreed to d...

We had an 'emergency' meeting with the building supervisor on site this afternoon. He had spoken with my partner earlier in the day and advised that the 1 month delay would more likely be a 2 month delay. We have decided to go with compensation rather than a re-build as the plaster is up and it is j...

Hi all I need some advice. We went to our house (currently at lock up) today, it was the first chance we got to have a good look at the outside of the house now the ground is drying out a little. Anyway our builder has raked the mortar instead of doing it flush with the brickworks. This makes a majo...

I also have to agree here. We bought in Pt Cook 9 months ago and just got extremely lucky with a block in Boardwalk estate. Before this we were looking at Tarneit. Its the age old argument of Supply v. Demand and there is more supply of land in the Tarneit area than demand - look at how much some of...

Hi Anton I am at lock-up with PD in the Boardwalk estate at the moment (just over the other side of Dunnings Rd). We have had an excellent experience with them so far. PD gave us an option to package our already purchased land with their house and have fixed site costs of 6k. Regardless of if they h...

Thanks so much for all the replies everyone. I have to say Matt I really like the exposed aggreate look for driveways, so I was pleased to know that it really wasn't that expensive. I also like the sort of broken sandstoney look inset in the white mortar paths that Porter Davis do. (I know thats a t...

In relation to PD's tardiness in responding we have found the same thing. I ended up speaking with our CSR's manager as there were changes we had wanted to make and then were told after 6 weeks of chasing said CSR up about it, that it was too late to do anything the building permit was issued. Outco...
