Hi, I laid my EZ in Eastern Melbourne in January and it is now excellent. It has yellowed a little but the roots are very deep and you can't see any seams from the pieces of turf. I think you should just be patient this winter and give it a feed of Molasses, Seasol and Powerfeed when it is not alrea...

Does the door seem to run straight. We had one that kept coming slightly off the track. This made it hard to move in one direction. Try lifting and jiggling. If this doesn't work there are some adjustment screws that raise and lower the rollers. Have a go at playing with these a little.

Hi dh3121 this is probably too late but may help your concerns. 50kPa bearing capacity is very soft soil, as an example a 60kg person would exert about 40kPa (assuming a 50mm x 300mm foot) directly beneath their feet. This should be enough to sink into the soil. The waffle pad slab helps to distribu...

I have a series 8 3D and it is excellent. The series 9 only has a few more features but it is supposedly better. The think I love about the TV is the really thin bevel, the screens are all TV and no border really.

I didn't know which way to vote. For my first house I went through a broker and had a terrible experience and decided never to use a broker again. When buying land for my new house I went direct to my current bank and got what I thought was a good deal. Then I got harassed by mortgage brokers wantin...

winner, I think you are posting in the wrong thread, however I'll try and answer anyway. Our builder first proposed to provide us with a cheque for the amount that they owed us and they would present that to us on settlement. However, in the end, they agreed that we would deduct the amount from our ...

I think the best option is any sort of organic soil improver or compost. I think bunnings sell a naked farmer organic soil improver which I have used before.

I sketched that up using Google Sketchup, for indicative purposes only. If the wall is greater than 1.0m high I would recommend engaging an engineer. If it is less I would recommend using sleepers and place the posts at at least third points along the length and bury the verticals to a depth of at l...

You could try having your corners like the attached image. http://img683.imageshack.us/img683/6535/retainingcorner.jpg

All things landscaping: https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewforum.php?f=19 At the top in the stickies (the threads with the splats) are the important ones to read. The grass growing thread is here: https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=19&t=43570 And if you have a lot of spare time you can r...

Artificial turf is bad for your wallet and the environment and in the end would be more of a maintenance nightmare than real grass. Use the search function to find some massive debates on it, however there are some good discussions here: http://www.ehhi.org/reports/turf/health_effects.shtml http://s...

Please do not go synthetic turf. Are you sure that seed was planted? The soil looks a beautiful black. When you pick it up and scrunch it does it solidify? People will suggest that you read the growing turf thread which I would agree with but in your case if that is a nice compost or top soil that h...

For those trying to source molasses in the East of Melbourne I found: Oban Trading 9 Oban Rd, Ringwood VIC 3134, Australia (03) 9879 5813 They have 2.5kg, 10kg and 25kg buckets. The 2.5kg was about $6 and I got the 25kg bucket for $25.30 (it was the last one they had though.) So no more supermarket ...

Hi nodtc, You must have been one of the poor Romeo victims of the site supervisor whose name started with M. Unfortunately he was not terribly good, but Romeo have now removed him. I am extremely impressed with the way that they are fixing the problems that seem to have occurred due to the poor site...

There may be another solution. My original PPOR was in two names, my wife and mine. I bought half of the property off her. This gave me a rental property with a new debt level that was almost 80% of the value. She used the proceeds of the purchase as a deposit for our new house. The ATO likes this. ...

In my kitchen in our build they had drawn up the plans with the kitchen sink not centered, why would you do that??? Isn't that just common sense? We put our sink off to one side on our 3m wide bench. I don't think it makes sense having it slap in the middle. I like to have as much bench space as po...

Have a look at the Victorian Building Commissions Guide to Standards and Tolerances: http://www.buildingcommission.com.au/resources/documents/S+T_GUIDE_07.pdf It also refers to the Australian Standard 2311 which should give more guidance.

Could you post an extract of your plans? That doesn't seem to make much sense. My windows are just written as 1800x2400 on my plans which indicates that the windows are 1.8m deep and 2.4m wide. Possibly your window is a 1200mm deep window 2100mm wide with a 3 leaf bifold (which I assume means when y...
