Hi all, I am just about to start a major renovation. I am using a building company and we have both have the correct insurances required by law. I have normal house and contents insurance. They have been notified but will not cover any damage caused by the renovation. What insurance will cover any d...

Hi Michelle, How will tassie oak floor boards come up after having tiles and a plaster sheet laid over the top in the kitchen. The house is from 1981. I am concerned that there will be a lot of nail holes and look bad. The alternative is to use a laminate in the living areas, kitchen and hall. This ...

Hi All, I'm having my kitchen renovated and polishing the floor boards in the living area and hall. The house in from 1981. I thought the floor was lino, but it turns out that it is terracotta tiles over a white plaster/concrete looking sheet. It will be okay to remove, however how will the boards c...

Good idea re-demo. They are pretty busy around here, but I could always try. It's in Avondale Heights, north west of Melbourne. These era houses are becoming more popular with young people because you get a big block near the city for budget prices, now looking to modernise. They are a dime a dozen ...

Hmmm they see easy to knock out. I've rung far and wide though, but I can't find anyone willing to do the job. Around here, you could make a killing removing these things!

My house, if I could just get rid of these darned concrete balustrades! I cannot find anyone that will remove them. It'll be a cute retro home once they are gone. Has anyone done this before? I am open to screening suggestions as well. https://forum.homeone.com.au/u/16480_1511394218.jpg

We have a smallish home, with a 10*10m garden. The back of the house faces west so we are getting a huge amount of evening sun coming through. We would like an undercover area just at the back door. It does not need to extend the entire length of the house. How should I do this? My ideas are either ...

You might get a small house in Pint Cook, just. If you want would be ok. If you want a bigger place, Truganina and Tarniet would be ok. They just aren't as established as PC. Otherwise Mernda and Doreen. Even Craigieburn is pretty good, just stay right away from Roxy.

Ive just finished with PD. No issues, great customer service, great site supervisor. House looks great, better than I expected. I would be more than happy to build with them again. I washappy enough with the selection process. All I upgraded was the bricks to cat 3 and white mortar. Also, a small fe...

Building was never my 'dream,' rather just how it all turned out. Considering that I wasn't expecting all my hearts desires and did not have all mapped out in my head before hand. I have been pleasantly surprised at how smooth it all went and how it all turned out despite being a complete cheap skat...

So I rang for the 'have you got the paper work and how's it going?' And, yes, exactly as you say. They have ordered the valuation, good. But, I was told that I need to complete a new instructions form because the amount approved is off by about $100. I thought, what ever, I pay cash .... get on with...

Ill PM you Amy. We have used Jasper, so its a dark grey with a touch of warmth to it I guess. Looks like we are all done, and I had PCI today. Now I just have to wait for my final cheque. This has all taken so long from the beginning about 1.5 years ago, and now I am being super inpatient about this...

I work in the suburban west of Melbourne and I am always dealing with these sorts of public issues. I tend to disagree that the 10-20 year old estates are where the problems lie, at least in the west. I find that the most unpleasant places in terms of crime and violence are the inner areas and CBD. ...

My house is done, and I am awaiting my final draw down from ANZ so I can be handed over the home. I understand the bank must do a couple of extra things for this final draw down, such as a valuation. Any ideas of how long this should take? I have been patiently waiting for 1.5 yrs for this house to ...
