Hi everyone, We have a gorgeous Victorian terrace house from the 1880s and the previous owner has put solid timber blackbutt (select grade) flooring in the living and dining areas of the house. I am a huge fan of blackbutt but it looks out of place in a beautiful old terrace with many original featu...

Hi everyone, We've just renovated our kitchen and one of the very last things to finally be installed was the splash back. We have white cabinets in Dulux Lexicon 1/4 strength, Caesarstone benchtop in White Snow, and had asked for the splashback to also be Dulux Lexicon 1/4. We paid extra for Starph...

Is there anyone who has wall hung toilets in their house and if not, why? We are both from Europe and we are wondering why these are not common here in Australia. Never had any problems with these, so to me there is no reason not to have a wall hung unit. I have not just one of these, but two!! One...

Both Beige Royal and White Duck are gorgeous colour though I found the White Duck to throw a lot of grey. Why don't you get a couple of sample pots and paint some patches in the different rooms to see what works best? Good luck! 2fk

TwoFatKittens would you have any photos of your place you would be happy to post? I'm considering similar colours. Thanks Will do, as soon as this kitchen renovation is done and the interior looks somewhat normal I'll upload a pic for you. 2fk

Thanks everyone for the tips, apologies for delay in responding, this kitchen renovation has meant that we have been living in a building site and I haven't been online as much as usual. We ended up choosing cabinets in poly gloss - the colour is Lexicon quarter strength. It actually ties in beautif...

As others have suggested, get rid of the sliding front door, replace it with a proper front door. You may need a glass panel window next to the new front door which you can frost or put a blind on. The fence has to go! A nice white picket fence with a proper entrance gate and some softening of the g...

I'm assuming you can't paint the walls given that it's a company house, but you will be able to hang some art. Get some of those wall hangers from your hardware store that stick to the wall and won't damage the wall when you pull them off. Then get some cool art in colours that you love and hang the...

I haven't had any experience with that particular tap, but I have dealt with Masters before and they were fantastic. I've also seen that tap on display and it looks very nice and great quality too. *2fk*

This post is a little old so I'm not sure if the OP has already made the purchases for their kitchen. I have a F&P gas cooktop (10 years old), slide out rangehood (3 years old, recirculated) and pyrolitic oven (2 months old). All are stainless steel finish. The gas cooktop is fantastic, my only ...

We are in the process of renovating our kitchen and one of the things I absolutely wanted to include was an integrated dishwasher. We have a Fisher and Paykel dish drawer and I wondered how that would work given we are having a handle-less kitchen. The kitchen designer told us that it is no problem,...

Thanks for reminding me about undermount sinks. I'm in the process of getting a build underway and will need to think carefully about this one. After seeing a kitchen display today, I was worried about there being no drainer, however a quick google confirmed you can get undermount sinks with draine...

We repainted our place only six months ago and chose Grand Piano quarter strength. We were tossing up between Sandy Day, Grand Piano and Beige Royal. I am not kidding you when I say that it took weeks to decide. Eventually I bought some board from Bunnings, sample pots of all three and painted the b...

We used Enduroshield on our frameless shower screen and floor tiles in both of our bathrooms when we renovated them a few years ago. I bought the stuff from Bunnings and followed the instructions exactly. I'm a bit OCD so after each shower I use a squeegie thingy to remove any excess water. The Endu...

Hi everyone, Hubby and I are about to renovate our kitchen in the next couple of months (after procrastinating for YEARS!) and would like to know from others who've been there and done that what you would change if you could do your kitchen all over again. Hi Linda, In your situation, I would most likely bite the bullet and go for the decking. Gives the place a real indoor/outdoor feel continuing the flooring from inside to out. However, if you have tiles or a dark polished wood floor then I'd go for paving. I live in a complex of townhouses and most ...

Ok I see that you have 3 options... Option 1. If you only have 10 cuts, and it's 5 bucks a cut then it's going to cost you $50 through Amber. Option 2. Hire a brick saw from Kennards (or similar) which will set you back at least $80 and that's not including the mistakes you're going to make on the p...

If this house is just for you, and you like wooden floor boards in the bedroom then make it so. However, this is the increasing home value forum and it would be my advice to carpet the bedrooms as it seems to be the more generally unoffensive option. The fantastic thing about your place is that if a...
