Main thing is that you contract with the company and receive the insurance certificate in the name of the company. No other variation will protect you ie contract in personal name but insurance in company name or vice versa.

The NSW warranty scheme is run by Icare under the HBCF. The discount of premium is not fully reflective of the risk a builder demonstrates to an owner. You can ask for a copy of their certificate of eligibility which would show current approved insurance turnover profile and last financial assessmen...

Hi everyone. I just read this whole thread to gain some insight on our current situation with the administration of ProCorp Builders. I was just wondering on everyone's general outcomes such as timeframes? how much you were out of pocket with new quotes from the builders that took over and if you w...

Some good news from our quarter. QBE paid up on our 5% deposit....happy days. We now have a new builder who we signed with just before Christmas. We are feeling much more positive as we worked with the building companies director, we have a tentative start date so all is good. :) So did the new Bui...
So did the new Builder contract with you at the same price as Cosmo or was the contract for a higher amount? If so was ...

Tintin, You have to be very very careful what you do at this stage of the game. Tread very carefully with the insurers, it doesn't take much to upset them. I'm saying this cos we were with Westminster, it's a long process, but if done right, you will get your work done. The Insurer is the NSW Gover...
The Insurer is the NSW Government Agency HWIF which is part of the Sicorp. QBE is just an agent of the HWIF...it is not...

Krushall, you should call SICorp to make sure you were on the list to be contacted by Trend Connections. Being that close to completion in Pemulwuy I would've expected that you be on that list. We were first cab off the rank to get work done by Trend and we are moving in tomorrow. With the rain del...

We were told by QBE not to bother with our own quotes being in Pemulwuy as they had a builder who was interested on taking on the work in that area. 2 weeks after our house was supposed to be completed and still not even a word from them. It really seems all the assurance from the meetings and lett...

Spoke to specialist at HWIS and was given some more clarity that the liquidators could not demand progress claims that were issued before the liquidation because the payments/contract agreement was so heavily front-loaded. ie. we did not get what we have paid for so far. eg. We have paid 80% so far...
So if the Liquidators cannot claim for the progress payments due surely the HWIF has to waive the 20% Non completion ca...

Anyone got more quotes back? We got 1st official quote back and it's in the $100k mark, consider only couple of weeks to completion and the base price of the house is $225k, I am speechless.... Another thing is, promotion items like air cond, alarm..etc that we suppose to get for free from Cosmo ha...

One important thing to realise. 1) If Cosmopolitan Homes asked (forcefully) for lots of payment in their last few weeks of existence, and 2) They collected lots of money in their last few weeks of existence, and 3) They were insolvent when they went into voluntary liquidation Then they were insolve...

Tintin, The liquidators are not the ones that will be covering the rent, it's QBE if that's who your policy is with. You are supposed to include that as part of your claim when you lodge it. You see, some WM customers contracts expired 6 months before they went into liquidation ( the homes where no...
The policy is being administered by QBE as agent for the HWIF which is the Government entity of Sicorp (Treasury).
