yeah freestanding taps def more expensive. but bear in mind taps from the wall are sometimes very hard to reach (for kids especially) as these freestanding baths are often very wide. If the freestanding tap is in the back corner, it is hard to clean that too. :)

hi there! listen ladies - you know I luv ya all, but I have to say, this question comes up from time to time, and it's always the same. People who have sinks in the BP - advocate for them, most who go against it, have never had it, and obviously never will. So there's your quick answer! I have it, n...

hi jo, great plans! Is this latest plan still Big M??? It doesn't look like one of theirs? anyways, The only thing that worries me is the size of the living area upstairs. It looks a bit small, almost unusable for anything but a desk. Might want to be careful with that. Otherwise looks great!

Depends, do you like shopping there??? I went to the one in Melb and I didn't like it at all. I found you had to buy large quantities, and they only tended to run one brand of most things, so limited choices. But I've met quite a few people who love it, so I guess it depends on that! I think it will...

yeah, you need a plumber to quote on moving the plumbing around first. Then get quotes for a kitchen, new bathroom stuff and so on. I'd look for seconds, or auction like fittings (to save money) but have professionals install. Don't replace the floorboards unless it is necessary, you won't know till...

we have the pendant lights (mini chandeliers) over our side tables and we love it. So much more room on your table. They might date, but only with the rest of the house, so dont worry about that. You can always update the pendant if you want to modernise the room anyway. We then had two downlights i...

How would you remove the spacers before grouting? I would say they stay, but I'm just using logic, not standards. Contrary to what some believe the spacers are not actually designed to go flat into the corners of the tiles. They are designed to sit facing out between two tiles and when done properl...

Hi Candy, I love this reno plan! well done. I'd prefer a sliding door to the laundry from the kitchen, that's just my preference there. And why not have the shower simply face the main body of the room, rather than around the corner. I think the more "open space" in smaller bathrooms shoul...

I renovated an old home recently and bought most (95%) of my tapware etc on EBAY, granted, it was China, but the quality was amazing, the prices were probably 75% less than retail here. I know some won't buy from overseas on EBAY, but I had no problems. Even the plumbers who installed the items were...

I think this is a fantastic reno! I agree with planfan to try and get the loo separate. Great idea to move the doorway to the laundry, rather than wasted space in hall. I love that it has dual access to the bathroom, but it really comes down to whether you can afford the space. It would be more impo...

I don't know about fast tracked, but I'm doing a Dip in Building & Construction at TAFE atm. It's just over 12mths, 2 nights per week, 3hrs per night. Lots of assignments and exams. Enjoying it tho. Once completed, providing I have a couple of years experience onsite building, I can get an unlim...

you write like you talk I'm sure, so funny! and I had to laugh at this line you said above: If I ever do this again ...the planet can kiss my arse.... I'm getting in the bobcats and it can all go to landfill. By the end of 2 weeks I was so sick and tired of lifting heavy things, trying not to break...

I've also seen on TV where they saw the timber you want to make putty for, use the fine dust from the timber mixed with PVC glue to make a custom putty and it makes an exact match for your timber. You can use it as putty where you need it.

I don't know about anyone else, but I'm really liking The Renovators on 10 atm. less crap, more reno/building work, challenges. I'm not into Top Design, most of their ideas are horrible to me. Anyone else??

YAY Go Team Sista! That pic at the bottom of the steps really did look spectacular - I was so worried the judges wouldn't like it, they can be so picky (and sometimes sexist I think). Cant wait to see the kitchens next week!
