Hi Fu et al I am planting 3 garden beds in our rural 'house yard' & want to use an ornamental pear & under plant with may bushes. I am in the Lower Hunter Valley so we do get frosts in winter & 40+ days in summer. My Q is, do the ornamentals respond/cope well with pruning to control heig...

I think it would depend on the thickness of the paver. If it's thin, I would def lay on cement base.

Hi Fu et al I haven't been on the forum for a while, but hope a H1er can offer advice. I am on a rural property, & was given a dozen Leighton Greens by my son. He had bought them to use in his city garden, but decided against it (good one!). The trees are about 1.5m tall, & he had cut the to...

Hi I'm looking to build a list of suitable plants/small trees for our 'house paddock' on our farm in the Hunter. Love hedges, so I guess photinia would be on the list. Need hardy plants as we get frosts in winter & 40+ degrees in summer. And just for another challenge on the list, we're on tank ...

There seems to be a huge spectrum of toilets & toilet prices. Seems that sales ppl can't tell me why an $800 suite is better than a $400 one. Can anyone 'pls explain'?? TIA HH

After some info on location of electrical lead on heated towel rails - and whether it is on a 3 pin plug or hard wired in. Our sparky and tiler have differing opinions on height off the ground that a tile should be cut to accomodate this. Where is yours located & how is it wired in? TIA

I find eBay great for buying, but not so good for selling items I want to recover a reasonable value for. I'd be pressing the coy that I bought it from again as a first preference. Good luck. We ended up with a smaller space than originally planned, & have a 1500mm freestanding tub. Alot of $$, ...

The best tip is to just keep the site clean: I found tradies tend to follow suit & don't treat the site like a tip!

Our old fridge is starting to develop issues, so we are in the market for a new one. As the fridge will be one of our biggest energy guzzlers, I am after any info on low-energy makes/models. Not after anything fancy shmansey, no ice or water dispensers, just your regular freezer on the top/fridge on...

OK...I own up. I am VERY neglectful about cleaning my gas wall oven. It is only about 2 yrs old, but has had too many roast dinners cooked in it. The ecco friendly combination of soda bicarb & vinegar has not even made a dent in it. I checked out the cost of using the 'Oven Fairy' & was quot...

Our (bad) experience has been DO NOT CHOOSE A TILER on COST alone :-( Went on a verbal recommendation without having seen his work. 'Nothing fancy, 300 x 600 rectified'. Had it all ripped out. Everything was re-waterproofed & we now have beautifully tiled walls, all even, no lipping :-) But our ...

Sorry James, no pics as installation is in a couple of weeks. I selected HB full in satin finish with Catalina (Quantum) bench (anyone with pics of either??). We have timber floors, & thought whiter tones would end up looking too stark. One observation I have made, tho, is that the small sample ...
