Hello! We have used Contempo Madrid Blanco (Midland Brick) in our gas fireplace and other areas in the house. Some of the bricks have a yellow discolouration which is very visible. Can these be cleaned? Or do we insist they be replaced? “Contempo Madrid is an imported product. Due to high density c...

Thanks @chippy, @Budapest for your responses. We've gone with aggregate :) I totally know what you mean about the ants here in Perth, they are a pain.

Hi Everyone, I’m wondering about aggregate vs pavers around a new build in Perth, WA. What’s the likelihood that we would need to access pipes etc around the house, repairs etc? Is it better to have paving for drainage? We will be paving around the pool and alfresco, but have aggregate included in o...

I’m building with Riverstone (2 storey, ~1M) and have had a great experience so far. No price rise with the contract I signed last November. Slab was poured in April and the second storey bricks are about to be laid. They only do about 30 homes a year. I would check them out.

Hello, We are tossing up whether to install Laminated tinted windows (Low E glass) vs added 3M film after handover. We like the safety aspect (the laminate is baked into the product so not likely to shatter if someone tries to break them) plus the low UV and heat saving aspects. The cost for our hou...

Hi All, Looking for a landscape designer recommendation in Perth. I checked out a few on Instagram but they are overwhelming! Looking for someone to design a concrete pool, some kind of low key cabana or shelter near the pool, grassed area, garden beds, fruit trees, chook run. Nothing too fancy. Tha...

@AsxTradingGirl Riverstone custom homes will provide you with a detailed breakdown of item costs in their ‘Detailed Design’ that’s prepared after you have paid the approximate $20k 2% design fee, as they have provided to @Shaidas. This information will allow you to price and consider externally sou...

I'm trying to figure out roughly how much a knockdown rebuild is going to cost. My most likely situation is going to - Double story - Total living area around 300-350sqm - Attached granny flat (ideally) or separate granny flat - ~60sqm - Preferable - high quality insulation (double glazed windows) ...
I'm doing a custom build in Perth - 539sqm - approx $2300 per sqm.

I am not a scamster. Our design consultant is Anna. We do have concept plans which don't have detail - that only comes at the next stage after I pay 2% of the build budget. The concept comes with a Quotation Report. Ours Quotation report does not have line item amounts which is what I was asking you...

I would have thought that is obvious. This is a custom builder. Your house is not a cookie cutter design where the builder knows the costs beforehand because they have built a display home and 10s of the same design and layout. They will give you a cost before signing the contract. For that stage y...

And I forgot to mention, as soon as the plan is finalised, shop around and find a WIR company that makes a WIR that works for you. Pay them to lock in the price. Actually pay every supplier an advance to lock in the price if you can. If prices do not rise you do not lose. If they do rise you save. ...
Ah yes, you did mention that previously. BTW, how do you know the allocated amounts for each item? At the quote stage, ...

That is exactly what I was told by Ken, the sales guy, so I went down and met their Director and he confirmed that Riverstone has never changed a quoted price or passed on increase in cost to clients. My mistake was I did not take it in writing. I did take it in writing that I will be free to bring...

Hi Shaidas, So is the 60k increase because of the cost of materials or did you make changes? I did ask if we could be subject to a price increase based on the current climate and was told no increase unless we make changes which would be subject to a variation. The issue is that I might want to make...
