Hi guys, My builder has already prepared the bathroom walls with furring Chanels. When the kitchen cabinet maker came, they commented on how it is better to render the bathroom walls, better for the tiles and for waterproofing. The builder told me it’s the same. When a Renderer came to quote on the ...

yes, if you want dulux colour you need a dulux product. Rockcote do not have the base and tints that Dulux have. the specification sheet for hydrotech recommends a sealer before the texture if not painting. Better off painting after texture, your walls will stay cleaner, easier to repair. best to g...

hi, need to get a scope of works from the builder/renderer first, generally most will not follow the specification from manufacturer. If choose a Dulux colour you CANNOT get same colour from Rockcote, They can mix the same formula but they do not have have Dulux Base or Dulux Tints this is importan...

I don't think there is much difference, frankly. For brick I would rather go with traditional sand cement or lime cement and spray 1.5-2 mm of silicon or silicon silicate decorative texture over. Not a big fun of acrylic renders, they are in the bottom of the food chain as it gets to durability and...
Hi Alex, thanks for the reply. Is this silicon render? Does it last longer than acrylic render? And what about the cost...

What are your external walls made of? IMHO any render requires primer. Hi Alex, thanks for the reply. my external wall is brick. Sorry for the typo in my post, i meant I was told rockcote acrylic render cost $10 more than dulux. Today I called a couple more renderers , they told me the prices of th...

Hi guys, My builder is getting ready for rendering the external walls, and asked me to choose from Dulux colours. On the scope of work I signed with the builder, it’s ROCKCOTE acrylic render. Does ROCKCOTE acrylic render have the same colour range to choose from as Dulux ? Which brand is better ? I’...

I was told it was tranquil retreat but looking at the tranquil retreat sample it looks greyish, I have now double checked and it is 100% tranquil retreat, however in real life it looks white. Thanks for putting the effort and checking for me. Really appreciate it, and it’s very helpful, as I’m seri...

I think the colour was Lexicon, and it looks fine on a cloudy day. I have also used Lexicon on my duplex and I am sitting here in the rain and it still looks white. Lexicon is definitely a lot whiter than tranquil retreat, didn’t you say it was tranquil retreat in your previous post? Sorry my mista...

Thanks for sharing this video, I happen to be choosing the external acrylic render at the moment, and tranquil retreat is one option im considering. It looks a bit too grey on the colour card, but looks perfect in your video. Is it not too dark in real life, especially on a cloudy day? That’s what ...

Hi Chris, Thanks for your prompt reply. You have been so helpful. It is also my understanding to do the inspection before the pour. An inspection a day before the pour leaves plenty of time to rectify any issues or worse postpone the concrete trucks and pump if need be. By putting the builder and c...

Hi Chris, Thanks for your prompt reply. You have been so helpful. It is also my understanding to do the inspection before the pour. Hi guys, I’m trying to decide on one of the two builders. One won’t allow me to have the third party inspector to do the stage inspection. The other one is fine with it, but he would like to know which company the inspector is from. Does that know I shouldn’t consider the first builder at all? Many...

Consider that just because a builder allows your private consultant access to their site does not mean they will read, let alone act upon, any issies noted in the inspection report. Many 'value' builders will just ignore or pay lip service to it anyway. You will need a plan and written agreement on...
