Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Sep 01, 2008 4:00 pm Things may be starting to move ahead for us so I thought I'd start a thread on our build. Where - Stonecutters Ridge estate - western Sydney Who - just DH & I right now but we want to fill it with a family Why - our dream is to live on a golf course estate - both DH and I are big golfers (and thought that the only way we would play more golf would be if we lived on a course!) House - the Impression 38 Mk II - modified to become 43 sq by Wisdom Homes. Our block: Lower ground: Upstairs: I had great news from the sales agent today - they are looking to submit the title/linen plan to Blacktown Council for approval this month - once that happens it will go to the Land Titles Office for official registration. At that point we can exchange contracts and then the fun starts: 1. Proper soil test and contour survey by Wisdom Homes, sign formal contract 2. Submission of external design and colours to the developer for approval 3. While that is happening, organising landscaping plan 4. Submission of building and landscaping plans to Blacktown Council (hopefully it won't take too long since we have complied with all council development requirements) All goes well we should be in mid-next year (yeah - I'm not getting my hopes up!) After 4 years - we're in! Re: Our Impression 38 Mk II (43) - landscaping 2Sep 01, 2008 4:05 pm Woohoo... Finally some news on the titles! C&G -------------------------------- A new building chapter begins.. Re: Our Impression 38 Mk II (43) - landscaping 3Sep 01, 2008 4:08 pm Does your plot go all the way back to those trees? C&G -------------------------------- A new building chapter begins.. Re: Our Impression 38 Mk II (43) - landscaping 4Sep 01, 2008 4:26 pm Almost - we have 8m between the trees and us that will be a fire trail. The back quarter of the blcok can't have any buildings because it's in an Asset Protection Zone (for bushfires) - that's fine with us - I plan on putting my fruit trees up there as well as a heap of lawn for ball games etc. After 4 years - we're in! Re: Our Impression 38 Mk II (43) - landscaping 5Sep 01, 2008 4:34 pm Awesome news! I'm so glad you guys are finally on your way
I love the pictures of the Wisdom display homes and can't wait to see yours come together Beautiful area - and on a golf course - my husband could only dream My karma ran over your dogma Re: Our Impression 38 Mk II (43) - landscaping 7Sep 01, 2008 4:56 pm haywgl Beautiful area - and on a golf course - my husband could only dream We've already figured out that we'll have an alternating system when we have kids - dad plays on saturdays, mum on sundays - or we get the grandparents over to babysit! Paula I think you have been more than patient - 26 months I think our patience will be stretched even more - I'm sure things won't go smoothly with this process! But we're hoping to start our family soon - so perhaps it's good training After 4 years - we're in! Re: Our Impression 38 Mk II (43) - landscaping 8Sep 01, 2008 5:06 pm Even I'm thinking "At last!" you must be so pleased to feel like you are moving forward. The house plan looks great!
Jo I leave you to fend for yourself, figure things out yourself. Terrence Malick Re: Our Impression 38 Mk II (43) - landscaping 9Sep 01, 2008 5:16 pm Excellent location, and beaut spacious plan. I used to live in a golf course estate. Along the 6th fairway. Was perfectly placed for grabbing more cold beers and having a quick pitstop! Cheers, Pete viewtopic.php?f=38&t=8824 Re: Our Impression 38 Mk II (43) - landscaping 12Sep 02, 2008 7:59 am PeterH - that's the plan! DH will be building a little lock box with an esky inside near the fence - a sports drink or water if your game is going well, an alcoholic beverage if things aren't looking so good!
donuts - the block is 880sqm - which doesn't sound that large - but is twice the size of what we could get in new estates in Sydney - most land is about 400-450sqm. We even offered to buy 2 blocks and build in the middle at a few estates but they wouldn't allow it. After 4 years - we're in! Re: Our Impression 38 Mk II (43) - landscaping 13Sep 02, 2008 12:24 pm What great news!
You must be so excited that it,s all about to happen It looks like a lovely area....will you be overlooking the golf course? We are building on a golf course estate as well. DH is a really keen golfer,so I probably won,t see much of him Your house plan looks great...I can,t wait to see it all come together Good luck Mel Building on 9 acres Re: Our Impression 38 Mk II (43) - landscaping 14Sep 02, 2008 12:29 pm stonecutter1309 donuts - the block is 880sqm - which doesn't sound that large - but is twice the size of what we could get in new estates in Sydney - most land is about 400-450sqm. It sounds plenty large to me you'll have a nice big yard for your kids-to-be Re: Our Impression 38 Mk II (43) - landscaping 15Sep 02, 2008 2:06 pm melanie02 It looks like a lovely area....will you be overlooking the golf course? Yep - the right hand side of our block is all golf course with a tee located near our house - so very small chance of stray golf balls (and previous green is on the other side of the road - golfers go under the road through a tunnel) donuts you'll have a nice big yard for your kids-to-be yep - wanted a yard big enough so that they could play and not have to be as well supervised as you would down at a local park. DH is thinking about a drop-in cricket pitch for summer afternoons After 4 years - we're in! Re: Our Impression 38 Mk II (43) - landscaping 16Sep 02, 2008 2:22 pm Congratulations on being so close to starting.
I love your house design - and what a lovely size piece of land. There is a wisdom home going up near us, they've just had the lower level frame done and windows in. Not sure what design though. Re: Our Impression 38 Mk II (43) - landscaping 17Sep 02, 2008 5:24 pm Good luck on your build. We had similar plan, we wanted to build a new house for our kids. We used to live in an old 2 bed fibro home and was worried about the asbestos. I was pregnant with the first child when we bought our land. My third child is now 13 months AND we still have not finish building yet! So, try to ignore what relatives'questions and concentrate on the bigger picture! Have fun Re: Our Impression 38 Mk II (43) - landscaping 18Sep 02, 2008 5:47 pm Thanks Sammy - love the colour of your bricks by the way!
Good news today from the land sales manager - they have their Design Assessment Panel up and running - as soon as contracts are ready - we can submit our external elevations and plans to them with our colours for approval. After 4 years - we're in! Great news stonecutter. Your plans look great, and the block is huge!! (very jealous - I thought our block was big for Sydney ) Bel Still not in. Don't ask!? Re: Our Impression 38 Mk II (43) - landscaping 20Sep 02, 2008 10:10 pm At last, you are nearly starting!

Good luck! ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Built the Nevada 42 Next project - landscaping! Hmmm, I have checked your past posts and it seems that you are in NSW, not WA as I had thought. It pays to show your State in your avatar. Retaining wall regulations… 5 7845 Hi, you've probably already resolved this, however, Commbank will probably pay the funds to you after you send evidence the work is done regardless the change in the quotes. 1 35305 Ideally you would engage a landscaper to give you some insight what they may need in the space to make your vision come to life… 1 13624 |
