We are going to add a bulkhead/pelmet from the ceiling 20cm off the north wall (top of image), 20cm high and 10cm wide as shown by the paler grey horizontal line. I imagine the walled sections of the north wall will always have curtains there, whether closed or open. Should we re-centre everything? Should we use the green or red line? The other things will have a different centre since their rooms are smaller in this dimension but the question remains (what to use as the top wall boundary)...? Thank you for your opinions Centring with a built in pelmet - please help 2Feb 18, 2017 6:59 pm cuebiyar Should we re-centre everything? Should we use the green or red line? So when the curtains on the northern wall are open will they be bunched against the the East and West walls? Am I understanding your description correctly? Also, what is covering the windows on the east and west? Re: Centring with a built in pelmet - please help 3Feb 18, 2017 10:00 pm I would expect the curtains will be bunched along the north wall to the corners of the east and west walls. Not going around the corner of course, but I can't imagine the section of the east and west walls north of the pelmet will be visible much (if any) of the time. We will put plantation shutters or honeycomb blinds or the like on the east and west windows. Re: Centring with a built in pelmet - please help 4Feb 18, 2017 10:24 pm OK. I can't explain why but I suspect that the rooms will looked better balanced if you leave the windows and the partial wall centred on the Northern and Southern walls of the room (blue line) rather than adjusting for the pelmet and curtains. I'm sure an interior designer or architect can tell you definitively and why, but I think it will just look "right" that way. Thanks for your reply!
