I think Renman was comparing project builders with private builders. I would think it's cheaper building with a project builder but it's like rolling the dice. You're at the mercy of your supervisor and tradies. Just hope for the best and micro manage since you can't rely on them to get it right. The other thing is it's unlikely that a project builder will go bankrupt unlike private builders who just fold and start up another business. That would be an absolute nightmare. Happened to my friend. Re: My KDR Metricon Hampshire - Liberty - 45 Melb 290Mar 08, 2017 9:43 pm Special_K Want to ask everyone here what there opinion is of Jack and Jill bathrooms? Add value of detracts from a house? We love them. Because we got a lot of kids we needed to get extra bedrooms without loosing the bathrooms to add the extra rooms. So It was a perfect design for us. To have two way bathrooms. The doulton had 4 ensuites upstairs. We added one to our place. If you upgrade the bathroom tiles, taps and lighting it will look quite nice. If your kids are the same sex they can easily share the bathroom in the future when they grow up. Re: My KDR Metricon Hampshire - Liberty - 45 Melb 292Mar 08, 2017 10:01 pm Doulton777 Renman Special_K I think there is no plus side. That poor family had to fight for justice for 5 long years. Going through a court case for that long must have been terrible. Metricon didn't stand by their customer! Instead, they're fighting tooth and nail to get themselves out of it. Makes me ask why anyone would want to build with a company with that attitude??? Unfortunately, in our legal system we have to prove that the builder was at fault. Even if you have as much knowledge as a tradie, you would still need to enlist qualified engineers to give testimony. How expensive is that going to be! Of course, the sad thing is that any builder would probably behave in the same way so what choice does that leave the consumer. We flock to these volume builders in hope of getting a decent house for a good price. We didn't think they would be cheaper. I went to them cos I loved their designs the most. And they were willing to make all the structural changers we needed. Before them we were going to go urban edge. But hubby didn't like the bedroom plus they weren't willing to do much as well as other builders like PD. When we decided to go with m. I told hubby be prepared they are going to be more expensive. And I was right they were. Much more If money wasn't an issue we would all go to custom builder and have the design/finishing they we all like. M did an inspection on my site after demolition and found traces of asbestos. I had to get the demolisher to come back and they did an emu peck. I was paranoid so I did my own after they did theirs and I still managed to find some. Last thing I wanted was M rejecting it twice. After it rains the top soil settles down and exposes the asbestos pieces. We only had a tiny amount in the bathroom and kitchen that needed to be removed and it was all done last week. I am looking for feedback on them from others who have built with them. 0 8194 |
