We are doing the same in relation to doing same tiles in laundry as bathroom and in our case the ensuite. Being wet areas it seems to flow and separates the areas from the rest of the house making them their 'own' rooms. We have seen so many with the same tile throughout the WHOLE house, it looks ok but does not suit us. Your choices aka your other half look good. Enjoy the trip! we certainly are. Re: First timers - Smart Homes for Living in Wellard 6Jan 05, 2017 12:52 pm Thanks Bordeaux4Guest. Yep we did the same, all wet areas have the same tiles. We did have the option to use different tiles in each but thought that would look strange and it would be better to keep the flow going so the only difference really is the colour of the strip on the feature tiling in the ensuite and main bathroom. The upgrades certainly do add up quickly. I tried to negotiate as many upgrades as possible into the initial build contract such as floor coverings, upgraded tile sizes, semi-frameless shower in ensuite, air con, etc. But even with all that there's still things that add up that don't you think about. For example, there's a range of standard garage door colours to pick from but the other half is set on having a brown garage door... $500 upgrade We have a $3k pre-start allowance but I see it getting swallowed up pretty quickly. The aircon controller upgrade is $900 alone! Then there's extra LED's and powerpoints that don't sound like they cost much but add up quickly! Enjoy your building journey! Re: First timers - Smart Homes for Living in Wellard 8Jan 05, 2017 2:22 pm scubabe I adore your bathroom and ensuite tile choices, they're going to look fabulous! Thanks scubabe. The other half takes all the credit there. Really looking forward to seeing how it looks at the end of the build. Now finance has been approved and selections are starting to be made it's all becoming a bit real Our build thread with Smart Homes for Living in Wellard https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=86092 Re: First timers - Smart Homes for Living in Wellard 10Jan 05, 2017 2:44 pm tdk14 Love the floor plan! Great use of space, and love the scullery and WIR in particular Thanks Was really happy with how it turned out in the end after being a bit worried about the narrowness of a 12.5m frontage but managed to fit in everything we wanted and stay under budget. The sales rep at Smart Homes helped with the scullery design a bit as well. Originally there was no additional fridge space but upon hearing the girlfriend and I discussing where my home brew fridge would live he altered the scullery so I can do all my homebrewing in there and not spread out over the house like it is at the moment. The fridge currently sits in my office while the equipment is split between the kitchen and laundry in our rental. That's brilliant of them Re: First timers - Smart Homes for Living in Wellard 12Jan 06, 2017 5:38 am You can't leave the brew fridge out, that's Sacrilege haha At the moment we don't have a build thread here. Being parents it's finding the time to just scratch my butt lol. Might get around to it eventually. In the meantime it's just nice to browse other people's home, get an idea here or two. Haha yeah, I was planning to keep it in my office like I do at the moment (I work from home). However my girlfriend wasn't too keen on this as I'm having it carpeted and the current house my office is tiled. It was this discussion we were having where the sales rep offered up his perfect solution Our build thread with Smart Homes for Living in Wellard https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=86092 Re: First timers - Smart Homes for Living in Wellard 14Jan 08, 2017 7:52 pm Love the two tone timber look laminate and white laminate you've chosen for the kitchen SilentBoB Follow our build with Express Two Storey (Ventura Group): viewtopic.php?f=31&t=85122 Re: First timers - Smart Homes for Living in Wellard 15Jan 09, 2017 12:35 pm Thanks mrsdoe Just twiddling our thumbs now waiting for our pre-start meeting but it's still 2.5 weeks away. Was a shame as they originally had us penciled in before Xmas but we had to get a couple of things amended on the contracts and then the bank held things up a bit so it pushed everything back a month. Tried to get the pre-start meeting earlier but they were fully booked until 25 January Our build thread with Smart Homes for Living in Wellard https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=86092 Re: First timers - Smart Homes for Living in Wellard 16Jan 10, 2017 12:52 pm Got offered an earlier pre-start meeting after they had some cancellations but unfortunately can't get the new dates offered off work now Just treating it as a bit of a bonus now though. Taking the 25th off means I get a mid-week weekend as it's a public holiday the next day Our build thread with Smart Homes for Living in Wellard https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=86092 Re: First timers - Smart Homes for Living in Wellard 17Jan 10, 2017 5:13 pm Oh bummer you've got to wait so long for pre-start but yay for a mid-week break from work! Our land is due to settle on the same day as our pre-start meeting on the 25th so the bank will also be taking our deposit that day. Then it will be water and 2 minute noodles until the build is completed Our build thread with Smart Homes for Living in Wellard https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=86092 Re: First timers - Smart Homes for Living in Wellard 20Jan 17, 2017 2:22 pm Coming along nicely SB.
