Browse Forums Bathrooms and Laundry 1 Oct 16, 2016 8:42 am Hi all My wife and I are planning a bathroom update for our mid 90s house. The main bathroom, although quite big at 3100 x 2750, has some bad features, mainly a 900mm corner shower which everyone who has stayed has commented on how small it is, and a corner spa bath which to be honest we have never used. We want to put in a larger shower , maybe 900 x 1200 and a normal bath. Locations will stay generally the same for shower vanity and bath to minimise plumbing changes - especially thru slab. Current layout is this roughly this: The one restriction is the window in the wall between the shower and the vanity which restricts shower width to 900 so a 900 x 1200 shower with a bath would look like this: It results in a narrow gap between coner of bath and shower of about 750 - 850mm which is a bit narrow. The third option is to block the window and have a payout like this - there is still a large window in the eastern wall of the house, the blocked window is in the south wall. The house is brick veneer - and I don't think it would be that big a job to remove the window and brick it up, I intend doing most of the work myself, except that which a licensed trade is required. Re: Bathroom layout ideas 2Feb 21, 2017 10:55 am Another option - enclose the window as you have said. Leave the shower where it is, but make it bigger, ie 1 x 1 or 1.2m and have the door opening towards the door into the room. Place the bath where the vanity is, and have the vanity where the bath is. If you put the bath there, if you wanted to, you could create a new, long, slimline, window higher up on the wall for more light (above the bath). Like the ones you sometimes see in bedrooms or lounge rooms. They are too high to see out of, but provide light. If you get me.... My blog: tashandpaul.wordpress.com Possibly both depending on the sizing. Idea of working from the centre is that you dont have a 20mm thin tile at one end and a 400mm at the other end.
