Our Build Thread viewtopic.php?f=31&t=83549 Re: A J B Fairmont Build 2016 88Sep 15, 2016 10:03 pm Electrical & Electronics installed 9th & 12th of September. Frustrated that the Electrician only had our Clipsal Specs Plan and not our House Plan as well, most measurements were not written on the clipsal specs! Even after telling the Electrician some things were in the wrong spot he only moved 1/2 of what I asked him to. Call to our SS & a catch up leaving him to move the things that were wrong!! Even silly things like WIR cabinetry is at 2100mm and he puts the points in the way. Kitchen I have raised my bench top height there was no allowance for this, in the laundry he puts the powerpoint for the front load washing machine above bench height instead of below, and finally in Bedroom 2 he literally puts a powerpoint where the middle of the back of the bed will be and this powerpoint was very obvious on the plan he had. Pays to check it yourself before gyprocking, we were just lucky where the days fell that we were available to check onsite! Warning keep an eye on your build especially at this time, Electronics people were grateful I turned up when I did as they were even confused at the instructions they were given! Gyprocking has started 14th September and they don't have much left to go, wouldn't be surprised if they get most of it done tomorrow being a total of 3 days and we find our doors are put on!? Been told it can be 5 weeks from completion of gyprocking till hand over wow! I sincerely apologise in advance if I make you dizzy, I cannot work out how to rotate my photo's seems it only likes pictures in landscape Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Build Start June 2016 Fairmont Homes Page 3 of our Topic shows most of our selections. Our Build Thread viewtopic.php?f=31&t=83549 Re: A J B Fairmont Build 2016 90Sep 16, 2016 8:07 am It looks so big and spacious. Great facade too Building with Simonds in S.A Re: A J B Fairmont Build 2016 91Nov 13, 2016 7:58 pm Getting There Slowly Been MIA so much has been happening that I haven't found the time to keep here up to date, my head is full of things to do and chasing contractors for quotes etc does my head in at times! Our build started in June and is running behind schedule, seems that those building in the South are motoring ahead and the North are lagging a little behind. We haven't managed to catch trades at our home so haven't had much opportunity to take many pics of the interior, only through the windows! Painting we have been told will start on Tuesday and potential walk through end of November. Tiling is mostly complete but a couple of readjustments where 2 powerpoints are in the kitchen need to be moved as 2 are at one height and the 3rd another. We were not impressed with Fairmont's communication with the Electricians re plans being given as we increased our bench height and this wasn't accounted for in 1st fix electrical. They will now need to remove the 2 tiles where those powerpoints are situated at and make the change. My word of advice with Electrical is if you go to Clipsal Specs make sure you get them to do as accurate positioning as you can it does make a difference also go into your home while the frame is still showing and roughly mark where you want your fittings to be! We are really happy with our flushings and things appear to be done to a good standard on a whole, so we think. Now the fun part (not) of co-ordinating trades after handover as I really want to get in the line for our flooring and blinds to be done prior to Xmas so I have something to play with in my Xmas break!! Wishing everyone a good lead up to Xmas when trades finish up for the year and we all get busy around our homes if we have had handover!! Bricks have been cleaned - Muscat Grey Mortar - White Roof & Gutters - Wallaby Facia - Dune Render still to be revealed Windows - White Burch Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Here's a sneak peak of the kitchen & WIP (my not negotiable) the spa was A's (i'll benefit to) Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Build Start June 2016 Fairmont Homes Page 3 of our Topic shows most of our selections. Our Build Thread viewtopic.php?f=31&t=83549 Re: A J B Fairmont Build 2016 93Nov 14, 2016 5:23 pm Kitchen looks great We only had a minor issue with our electrical, which was that we asked for the powerpoint and taps for the washing machine to be installed underbench height, but only the electrical part was noted on the plans. So the taps are above bench height, and the powerpoint was under bench height. Just today we noticed that they have now cut into the gyprock and seems like they are moving the powerpoint only.. A bit frustrating as we pointed this out to them before the gyprocking, but it got let as is and was gyprocked over. Oh well. We had done our own electrical layout as we werent very impressed with how forced and rushed the clipsal appointment was. Building a Fairmont Custom in Seaford Meadows Our Build Thread Re: A J B Fairmont Build 2016 94Nov 14, 2016 8:08 pm Thanks MJT, We to had to have the powerpoint moved in the Laundry for the washing machine as we have a front loader and the powerpoint they put above our bench and I wasn't going to have a hole in that, it was moved to inside the cupboard under the laundry sink where our water pipe will go through a hole in the side of the sink cupboard. Pity the pipes don't appear to be as easy to move, not that I would really know!? We have been fairly lucky pointing out errors and Fairmont saying they will fix it, we will see what happens with what we haven't picked up yet due to limited access. Good idea doing your own electrical layout with information re height etc, this was something I was frustrated about with Clipsal Specs the information is way too hard for the Electricians to read on the size paper they are given! Take care Build Start June 2016 Fairmont Homes Page 3 of our Topic shows most of our selections. Our Build Thread viewtopic.php?f=31&t=83549 Re: A J B Fairmont Build 2016 95Nov 30, 2016 7:56 pm Walk through happened today, so excited to see render & front door painted and roller door on. We love our choices and are so happy with a lot of the finishes. We didn't upgrade our paint yet our painter was amazing, yes they missed very few spots etc but nothing that can't be fixed. The most interesting find was the door stop at the front door was placed on the wrong side of the hallway despite the door being on lol! Our SS was really good with things we brought up, the only thing he wasn't prepared to replace was the bricks at our entry except 1. Lesson, ask the brickies to be extra selective with the bricks around the entry if they are a top colour finish (ours show terracotta colour underneath when chipped) A was set on the darker brick so will just be something we will get use to or get a colour match and touch some of them up. Only took a picky from outside, will post some pics of inside after handover as I didn't get time to take any today. Colour choices Roof, Gutters & Front Door - Wallaby Facia & Roller Door (Madison, traditional double windows at top for light) - Dune Render - Mountain Shadow Downpipes - Monument Bricks - Muscat Grey Mortar - White Windows - White Birch Porch tiles - Oddeysy Rock with grey grout - blends well with our colours Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Build Start June 2016 Fairmont Homes Page 3 of our Topic shows most of our selections.
