We just upgraded the things that were really important to us like nicer tiles, colorbond roof, nicer stone with a waterfall and a few other bits and pieces. It worked out better for us that way. We saved money by doing the fence, floorboards, carpet, driveway and landscaping ourselves. The landscaping is still pending actually lol. I didn't get your pm... Thanks DreamHome, sorry just realised that message didn't come through. Wow you did a lot of things by your selves, that is great coz you save up a lot. I think that's what we are looking at doing ourselves too, we are hoping to upgrade to timber floors. I see your home turned out beautiful, nice choice of colours and the house design was ??. How was the built? People say there is long delays with Oracle... I see they did a great job with your home, and the finish was of good quality. Overall we are happy with the house, we love the layout and are satisfied with our choices. I do feel like the choices I made (almost 2yrs ago) aren`t what I would pick now though, but still happy with the overall product. I`m glad that we opted to do the flooring ourselves as I ended up changing from dark shiny bamboo to a light matte finish oak. The admin stage was a nightmare, but you ask anyone who has ever built a home before with any other builder and they say the same thing. Some builder`s are more efficient than other`s but most times I hear 18-24months from start to finish. Good luck with everything, I`m sure you will be happy with the end result as most of us are Oh and I think that any delays during the build phase is just lack of trades. There`s so many homes being built in our area that most trades are 3 weeks booked out in advance, so if SS calls tomorrow for a trade, the house sits for 3 weeks. That`s what I found anyway. We were just thinking if we start the process now end of year we will be in our new home, doesn't seem that way though ??. By the way, that timber flooring looks amazing, we are also hoping to upgrade to timber, we will see though coz we don't want to spend too much on this house. I made little leather handles to give it a Scandinavian feel. Outdoor tiling got completed yesterday. Only have a pic of the front. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Air con was installed yesterday as well as painting touch ups. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ The driveway was originally meant to be formed yesterday, but due to hot weather earlier in the week has been delayed until tomorrow and pouring Tuesday, after council inspection Monday, allowing going to plan. Our ss says that everything else will be done ( apart from possibly repositioning the door on the ensuite shower to other side, which can be done after handover) by then so we can get keys after the driveway pour...so technically Wed. The issue is our bank is waiting for the driveway to do their final valuation, and then will organise payment of invoice. We have asked for the valuation to take place Tuesday afternoon, and hope it only takes a couple of days for funds to be released. We have tentatively booked a removalist for next Friday. I have just been around today and the fences are down( except the one between us and the build beside us and the driveway seems to be excavated, as well as a big portion down the side of the block to level most of it with the house beside us, a job we were expecting to do after handover. All of a sudden the big green electricity box seems more prominent. It will soon be screened with some shrubs Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Will just have this pile to use to level after. Everything else seems to progressing nicely Ask the council if there is a chance of getting build over easement exemption. Sometimes easements are unused and 24cm is not all that much. Good luck. And yes any builder… 2 13781 In Qld it is a requirement that a builder must have a cost breakdown, for building a home to the same specification, with the same inclusions and the same finish. So ask… 1 4354 |
