Fiat - we can't wait - wish we started when you did - we'd be enjoying the pool already!
Oh the pool is amazing! I had a bad day at work today so when I got home I had a glass of wine in the pool - it was bliss!
Browse Forums Building A New House Re: GJ Gardner - Mandalay 298 - QLD 309Dec 15, 2016 11:12 am We're getting closer... but still a little bit to do - the bits that seem to take forever, but will give it, its finishing touches. Over the past week or so they've poured the exposed aggregate around the pool, put skirting boards over the floorboards, poured our long driveway and pad infront of the shed, the rain tank pad and garden shed pad, hooked up the electrical to the shed, installed the BBQ cabinetry and bench top/sink (Webber is on site but won't be installed until just prior to hand-over), kitchen sink installed, taken off the window protection and installed the screens, tilers started yesterday on the alfresco, courtyard and porch (hopefully finish today or tomorrow). Still waiting for painters to paint skirting boards (over floorboard areas), window treatments, exposed agg sealer, pool to be sprayed and equipment installed (early in new year), ducted air-con unit installed, rangehoods in kitchen and BBQ, antenna to shed, crimsafe front door, final scrape, fence palings, etc. GJ are very confident we'll be in before school goes back, which here is 17th Jan - so we're hoping they organise everything including certifiers, etc before then. The good news is I should be able to get the keys to the shed fairly soon (anyday now) and start painting the gyprock and laying more floorboards and then start the enormous job of moving our stuff. That will help a lot. And still more to go?! Will they be stopping work over Christmas soon? Follow my build viewtopic.php?t=83885 Re: GJ Gardner - Mandalay 298 - QLD 311Dec 15, 2016 5:21 pm Yeah, next Friday is the last day of trades. Not sure if the pool builder will take the break though, he might work during the down time as he is a sole operator and a hard worker.
Alfresco tiling looks complete, and courtyard and porch mostly done now. Then grouting. They did the BBQ cabinetry area too. Follow my build viewtopic.php?t=83885 haha one day (so much landscaping to do first!) - once the kids go back, we go back! lol Re: GJ Gardner - Mandalay 298 - QLD 315Dec 23, 2016 1:43 pm We have a hand-over date - January 12-13th. But GJ have been awesome as they've given me the keys for the shed (last Friday arvo) - so I've been busy painting, making window frames and installing wall fans and someone is laying the flooring and doing the skirting. The past 2 days, they've given me access to the house to enable me to install our blinds - all done. It was great getting a sense of what life's going to be like in three weeks. Very appreciative of them allowing me to do this and also having the shed allows us to move the majority (especially the big and heavy items) whilst everyone is on their break. They got as close as they could to getting a pre-Christmas hand-over, but there's still a few little things to do - * seal aggregate - supposed to be yesterday but the bob-cat went over the freshly washed driveway when he levelled the site! * door jams/wardrobe in Bed 4 * rangehood and BBQ * antenna and TV points for shed * connect shed downpipes to watertank to reserve behind us * pool spray and equipment - will be done week of 24January * voids around windows (where there's no mortar) * final clean, etc Not too much. We did receive our final payment - Practical Completion and our variations. Have phoned the bank to organise their inspection to release the funds to GJ. Here are some more photos from today - will upload some new shed ones tomorrow after skirting is complete. By the time the inspections take place, we organise and provide insurance details, ask council for bins, gas cylinders installed, etc. Jan 12-13 will be upon us. I'd love to try and get some turf in the front and part of the back before hand-over too. Merry Christmas to all and your families, hope you all have a bloody awesome time!
