All settled in? Hi bob, Going well, we've been busy bees since last posting. Our front landscaping was done by the estate 2 weeks before xmas Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ We were on a mission to get the back landscaping done before Xmas, I broke from work on Tuesday before so we smashed it all out by ourselves in 4 days! For example: If it's between 10pm-6am, the WIR, ensuite, ensuite wc, laundry and main wc only turn on at dim level to avoid blinding yourself in the middle of the night. Toilets have a Motion sensor Light turns on as you walk in, will automatically turn off 1m30s after you walk out. If the toilet is occupied for more than 3 minutes, the fan turns on and stays on until you leave of which it stays on for a further 3 minutes and automatically switches off Main toilet has a daylight sensor on the motion sensor, if there is enough ambient light, it doesn't turn the downlights on but still monitors if the fan needs to turn on after 3 minutes or not 20m time out on lights and fans in the ensuite and main bathroom to avoid excessively lengthy showers, it doesn't turn off though just dims to low level. "bath" mode (Long button press) in main bathroom which lasts an hour instead. And my favourite! GOODNIGHT Button - press it by the front door and all lights (except bedrooms) slowly fade off over 30 seconds. There's also an all off button in the garage that turns everything off after 10 seconds. I'm also planning to link it to the garage door, so when it's opened by remote the garage lights turn on for 5 minutes then automatically turn off. We also got solar power installed on Monday. 5kw fronius 3phase inverter Fronius smart meter (shows your generation and consumption vs export/import to/from the grid) 23x Q.Cells plus G4 280W panels (6.44kw total) Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Re: Smart Homes - The Mentor (PCI done / Keys Friday) 125Feb 02, 2017 12:16 pm The house is looking great! Looks like it's really coming along. The backyard is looking great too. I need to start thinking about what we are doing with ours once the house is built. Have to admit I'm slightly envious of your automation system. I've taken the first steps into some kind of automation with our build by opting for an iZone controller and a few iLights to get us started. I'll slowly add to the system as money allows but I don't think it will be on the same level as your set up I just like the idea of being able to turn on the aircon when I'm on the way home and also hooking the retic up to the system as well. I think home automation is definitely the way of the future. Love what you have done with all of the sensors and various settings such as light level depending on time of day and automation in the toilets and bathrooms. Yeah, we're looking at a split system for the Master bedroom and evap throughout the house when we can afford them. I'll be custom coding and interfacing the A/C Units using raspberry pi's to work with the solar system. So if energy export is higher than what the A/C consumes, and the internal temperature of the house is over 24-26 degrees turn them on automatically while we're generating the power. If power generation or internal temperature falls below the thresholds then turn them off. That way, we make the most savings on energy usage by consuming what we are generating instead of buying from the grid in the afternoon when were not at peak production. Re: Smart Homes - The Mentor (PCI done / Keys Friday) 127Feb 02, 2017 12:48 pm Smart move! I'll eventually have sensors in rooms that I'll add to the iZone system so if it detects no one in the room it shuts off that area of the house (can do it manually from the phone app without the sensor in the interim). Not sure it will lead to much in the way of savings but hopefully should make the system a bit more efficient. We might upgrade to solar one day but at the moment it's a fair way off for us I think.
