Can I put it through the middle of the sink which is an undermount sink or will this weaken the sink cutout? I'm seeing different answers from different people. Caesarstone told me to speak to the stone mason but I don't know who Metricon is using. Would love some guidance, thanks so much http://jazzyandluke.blogspot.com.au Building Metricon Glendale 38 http://jazzyandluke.blogspot.com.au Re: Building with Metricon 2969May 03, 2016 11:55 am jazz_d Very urgent response needed - for those of you with an island bench in stone longer than 3m, where did you put the join? I wouldn't want it right down the middle myself as I had it in my previous house, that's why we went 3 metres only! My Metricon Glendale in Sydney. The price from our initial quote has increased nearly 100% when compared to the price given at our P/E appointment. Our SC's explanation is confusing, particularly with regards to how they calculate the insulation costs for internal walls. Any assistance/input would be appreciated. Re: Building with Metricon 2973May 04, 2016 8:37 pm We insulated 3 internal walls at a cost of $450, that is all i have to offer on that sorry bpglendale! This is why i HATE their estimating, it is too far out with some things. We had a few things double in price at prelim contract time from what was initially quoted and i kicked up a stink and said that I would understand a bit of a higher price, e.g garage was quoted at $3k but came back at $3150 which i said was fine. However the driveway size increase doubled and the alfresco extension/reduction of rumpus price came back about $1k more and they credited both of those increases back so that it was as per original quote! The estate that we're building in stipulate a 7-star energy rating for encumbrance approval. Our total insulation upgrades have increased from about $2.5 k to just under $5k, and the explanation is because they used Melb specs instead of Adelaide. Apparently there was also an error with the estimating system which will now be rectified for future quotes. Strange this is the first time it's ever been queried by anyone?? Re: Building with Metricon 2975May 05, 2016 9:16 am Hi I have an issue with main bathroom commode's water leaks and don't know where it starts. I need your advice abut this. Is it issue with ceramic commode or poor plumbing? I don't want M to put any water proof sealed as it 2 months old and want them to replace ceramic commode/tiles and redone everything from the beginning. Pls advice. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Thanks I think the commode itself has a leak at the bottom where it joins the floor. Anyway that's how it looks from the photo. They may need to reset the commode and silicone it again. Is there any sign of water damage on the wall or behind the wall the commode sits on (check the along the skirting board). If the commode is upstairs check the ceiling on the ground floor right below the commode. If there is no water damage it is unlikely there is any plumbing issue. I won't be asking M to redo everything until you get it assessed. Worse case they may need to put in a new commode. It's not unusual when we renovated our bathroom our bath tub and commode leaked, the plumber came back and re fitted and we have not had any issues. Include it in your 90day warranty. Jetstar have flights on sale at the moment and i would LOVE to do a little family holiday but it will be during the build. Do you think it would be ok to not be able to check up on everything for a few weeks??? Re: Building with Metricon 2979May 05, 2016 8:30 pm kylz4 Ok, kind of building related. Do you think it would be ok to not be able to check up on everything for a few weeks??? A few weeks should be a problem as the works generally stop and start. Unless the holiday happens to fall on the time when a stage is complete and you need to inspect or instruct the bank to make payment. I didn't think we would be as involved as we are. Also, our site manager has asked if he can reach us by phone/email if he needs to. If I could go back I would have saved the holiday for after the build is finished - too stressful lol!! Hi, First of all, thank you to this community for sharing your thoughts and opinions.
