Seems odd that the mention every other room for carpeting and tiling We are getting carpet to the study of ours. Don't recall it being out of the tender and us asking about it. We have just gotten battens within our allowance and have a friend of a friend doing all our electrical work
how does it all work if you don't mind me asking???
We sent a floor layout to the electrician and he told us where to get batten lights and circuits put. We put them in as we had the allowance with Coral. He is going to use the circuits to install all our fans and downlights post handover. Or do it while the build is happening if our SS says it's ok Okay - we spoke to our salesperson on the weekend and he has said we can use our own electrician to do the work afterwards only but we are worried about walls and ceilings being cut open etc. I assume that with you giving the floor plan and him telling where to put batten lights and circuits this avoids pulling apart walls and ceilings too much. Is your electrician the coral one or a seperate one to the coral one? Re: Coral Homes general build thread 6292Nov 20, 2016 6:57 pm dougang287 We are. It's no issue and walls etc dont need to be cut open .... there are a few exceptions to get done initially these will be things like power to island benches and areas where there will be tiling - tiled areas can be done at a later date but there is sometimes the off chance that damage to tiles can occur. The only other exception would be if you wanted a power point beneath a windowed area Hope this helps Re: Coral Homes general build thread 6293Nov 21, 2016 6:48 am shortnstumpy dougang287 shortnstumpy
Anyone got an electrician to do all the work instead of Coral doing any of it? Ok background - We selected the same tiles for wet areas and main flooring so it would have a nice flowing look throughout the house. Husband has just been to check and they have done the main flooring offset to the wet areas... He says it looks sh!t.. Im hoping hes just upset and exaggerating. It doesn't actually state in the tiles selections that it 'has' to line up but the wet areas do reference (same direction as main flooring) etc I really don't want it to get messy but does anyone think i have any chance of having them re-do the tiles if they are as terrible as he says? Re: Coral Homes general build thread 6298Nov 21, 2016 2:05 pm I'd love to know how you go we have the same tile but slightly smaller in the toilet and laundry cause they wouldn't lay the large size in there I really want grout lines to line up but was told it's doubtful that will happen unless we can catch the tiler but we're not aloud to talk to trades on site Re: Coral Homes general build thread 6299Nov 21, 2016 2:18 pm marcoola Hey all Wondering if anyone done the speaker wiring tgru clipsal to their media room? It is worth if they use a 12 AWG cable.... Are you wondering what a banana fitting is? https://www.amazon.co.uk/Cables-ALL-Spe ... B007EDRJ2I To give you an idea... 100 metre 12 AWG cable from Selby - $189 (100 metre is a lot of cable..enough to do my 11 speakers set-up) 4/6 banana wall plugs around $20.... Also, depends on your media room dimension and speaker location... I just got coral to wire the speakers for in ceiling speakers, and to run a hdmi cable from one end of the room to the other with hdmi plates that i supplied. Didnt get them to do anything else as i will get an av specialist in next week to do the rest. Sometimes easements are unused and 24cm is not all that much. Good luck.
