Browse Forums Building A New House Re: 2 ys to build a 3x2? my troubles with Commodore Homes 2Sep 10, 2014 5:34 pm Wow! That is a very long wait! We have a clause on our contract which states that if they go beyond, I think 22 weeks, for a single storey, then they have to pay as a certain amount per week to help us cover rent. Did they give you a reason why it stayed with admin for so long? I am by no means an expert but seriously, 53 weeks is ridiculous. When you said you reached lock up on sep 2013, do you mean 2014? Sorry, again I am not an expert and I am new to this building thing as well! We aren't as bad as you, but we are looking at 18 months probably by the time we get keys. We've only just had bricklayers start and nearly eleven months have passed. Builder is saying another 7-8 months at least. Just makes you go grrrr ... they don't have a business responsibility to make sure timeframes don't get blown out, they can build right up until that final day in your contract, but sure as heck they have a moral one. Especially when they promise the client the 12 month speel .... we got that too, knew better than to believe it, but thought maybe 14 months. Yeah right!! I'd be tallying up all the additional costs and giving them an invoice. I think in this building boom, 15 months is a reasonable time frame ... anything after that, invoice them. Re: 2 ys to build a 3x2? my troubles with Commodore Homes 4Sep 10, 2014 5:59 pm Wow! And I thought my situation was terrible. Signed up last year and slab down early this year... And it has stood idle for a good 4.5 months with excuse after excuse. We have a clause in our contract that the house must be completed after a certain number of days and we are still in it (just). Do you have a timeframe in your contract when you can start fighting some of the costs? Re: 2 ys to build a 3x2? my troubles with Commodore Homes 5Sep 10, 2014 6:52 pm Hi chylatte - sorry got my dates mixed up but timeframe still the same. Yeah very frustrating. I have been passed around everyone in the office regarding this but have the head of construction ringing on Monday … hopefully. As for our contract. It does state they have 300 working days. We did question that amount at signing and they assured us it will never got to that. But it's not far off now. 300 working days will February 2015. Will keep you posted Re: 2 ys to build a 3x2? my troubles with Commodore Homes 6Sep 10, 2014 8:07 pm Hey, also building with Commodore, also been really slow, not quite as long as you but our titles were delayed as well. We signed up with them in May 2013 and are really regretting it, to be honest though its all just become a bit of a joke now. Their communication has been awful, we had a price increase because it took them so long to order the materials (our fault of course ??!!) and now they claim to have done our plumbing when in fact they haven't??!! Unfortunately I have no advice but I would have thought if you were at lockup you would have been in by Christmas?! Re: 2 ys to build a 3x2? my troubles with Commodore Homes 7Sep 10, 2014 11:08 pm I'm really sorry to hear that you are having the same experience that we had about eight years ago, or should I say, eight to ten and a half years ago. Yep, 2.5 years to build a one story house with the same company. Our list of frustrations was about as long, but the good news is that when we finally moved in, we were fairly happy with the house. We are now building with a different company which doesn't promise speed, but keeps every time frame that is quoted, so obviously it can be done. I really hope that for you too, the finished product will be fine, when we you finally have it. Re: 2 ys to build a 3x2? my troubles with Commodore Homes 9Sep 11, 2014 10:49 am Steve82 Hi teaswizzler, that is really nice to hear. Thank you. Fingers crossed we love our finished product too. Really hope we get in before Christmas. Re: 2 ys to build a 3x2? my troubles with Commodore Homes 10Sep 11, 2014 9:53 pm Steve82 Hi teaswizzler, that is really nice to hear. Thank you. Fingers crossed we love our finished product too. Really hope we get in before Christmas. Sorry to hear about that our admin process was so slow but not as yours , we sign up on October 2013 now finally waiting for council approval then hopefully Scheduling , good luck wish you get in before Christmas . Re: 2 ys to build a 3x2? my troubles with Commodore Homes 11Sep 11, 2014 11:39 pm Looks like c ommodore homes are still playing the same games we built with them in 2011 and experienced really really poor service. House is fine and we've lived here for 3 years, so it hasn't fallen down yet just their service and attitudes were terrible. Hope you come right soon The road to success is always under construction House completed April 2011 - slowly making it a home... Re: 2 ys to build a 3x2? my troubles with Commodore Homes 12Sep 12, 2014 12:09 pm I didn't think things could get worse. But yesterday we were told by commodore Homes that our dining/living/kitchen/hall & laundry tiles are discontinued and we are to reselect. That is annoying but having chose our selections over a year ago these things are bound to happen. So we made our way to back down to the tiling store for them to tell us that Commodore Homes (BGC residential) did not email them all our selections and now almost 21 months into our build we are back in scheduling. I cannot believe it. These have to be the worst builders in Perth. What makes them more of a joke is that they wanted to book us in for a tiling meeting last Tuesday at our home to go over to make sure we have chosen the right tiles. How we were going to confirm out tiles when then havnt even ordered them I do not know. Re: 2 ys to build a 3x2? my troubles with Commodore Homes 13Sep 12, 2014 11:40 pm Sorry to hear that Steve82! Hope they get their act together. Similar story here however with a slow process but not to your extent just yet. Signed up October 2013, siteworks only just done last week. Thinking from here maybe another 7 or so months but who knows! First Build, Commodore Homes, Alkimos Beach. My build thread: https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=69032 Thank you so much everyone. This all makes a lot of sense.
