We originally only needed retaining on the right hand side but we decided to level the backyard which require extending the wall all the way to the side boundary and return along the back boundary. Not cheap but we're happy to have a level garden.

They finally started last week then the rain decided to come to the party! Landscaping is an expensive exercise but final cost really depends on a lot of factors. How big is your yard? You can save a bit if you go for treated timber sleepers rather than blocks for your retaining wall. I'll pm you his contact details Re: Metricon Hudson KDR in Ryde - Landscaping 1645Nov 08, 2015 8:08 pm Yay great to see some progress!! Fingers crossed we get more ️ next week so things can progress well viewtopic.php?t=78985 Re: Metricon Hudson KDR in Ryde - Landscaping 1646Nov 08, 2015 8:20 pm Thanks franky. I was just catching up on your thread. Wow your facade is fab. I'm glad I was able to help you sneak in extra electrical work. It's definitely better and cheaper to do them now rather than later. I'm curious how much they charged to provision for the motorised blinds? Our sparkies didn't have any issues connecting the wiring but they charged $200 for the trouble. I also had a read of your landscaping plans and quote. Sydney prices are just outrageously overpriced compared to interstate but I think your quote was reasonable for the scope of works. I love your concept. Hope you find a good, reasonably priced contractor to turn your vision into reality Re: Metricon Hudson KDR in Ryde - Landscaping 1647Nov 08, 2015 8:42 pm Thanks Sheilzy I am sure you can relate to making zillion of selections on paper and then stressing if it will look good lol! So far I am quite happy with the colours and the facade, the feature render is yet to go, hopefully it all looks good together ! We got provision for motorised blinds for $50 each so definitely a big saving thanks to you ! Landscaping is crazy expensive I never in my wildest dream thought it will cost so much! Anyway I've had 3 quotes and they've all come a few thousand with each other . However given its a messy job and requires excavation etc it is best to get it done properly once and for all. I have been focusing very much on the hard landscaping, need to start thinking about plants etc. I will be watching your landscaping journey with a keen eye for tips . The Japanese garden sounds very exotic viewtopic.php?t=78985 Re: Metricon Hudson KDR in Ryde - Landscaping 1648Nov 08, 2015 9:18 pm Sheilzy your home is looking lovely , so pleased to see some pics. How did the wooden screen for your ensuite turn out? From memory your bath was going in front of it?? It's amazing how quickly the last 3 months flew by and I'm so glad to have the majority of internal post handover items behind us now. We are holding off on the wooden screen for the ensuite. Surprisingly the open layout has grown on us and hubby and I are debating whether to we need the screen or not. I think we'll concentrate on finishing the landscaping then revisit the ensuite at some point. Sun is out and the boys have been hard at it all day. I can't wait to get home and see their progress. Btw your house is looking fab. I wish hubby and I had your diy skills! I can't believe how much work you accomplished all by yourselves. Re: Metricon Hudson KDR in Ryde - Landscaping 1653Nov 09, 2015 4:12 pm D don't even get me started! We signed up with TPG and they connected us ASAP but speed was outrageously slow! Despite numerous visits by their technicians they couldn't resolve the speed issue and put the blame on internal cabling. So we escalated to Metricon who sent out their technicians to look into it but unfortunately they also couldn't find any fault with the wiring. So we changed to Telstra but we are waiting for their contractor to lay cables! We are caught in the middle and spending a fortune on data Re: Metricon Hudson KDR in Ryde - Landscaping 1654Nov 09, 2015 4:20 pm Oh no ... we jumped on telstra straight away... paid the speed boost as well to get 100mb Good luck ! It's partly our fault as we keep adding more features but we also have to fork out more money for unforeseen issues eg more retaining and drainage. Cost is now roughly 15% of house build.
