I'm satisfied with the outcome. The brickies didn't refer to the engineers drawings and just assumed how it should be built! Anyway the garden is taking shape. I'm not particularly happy with the quality of the rendering job but as my mother in law says "good things no cheap, cheap things no good"! I should have seen first hand the workmanship of the contractors I hired...instead I relied solely on contacting their referees. The overall effect so far is great. Very stylish. Love the existing trees. I hope the brickies learned something.... http://www.housebythewater.wordpress.com From blank block to new home in Mandurah, Western Australia. viewtopic.php?f=31&t=65564 Re: New Home Landscape Design - Kensington WA 53Apr 28, 2015 12:38 am How crazy that they just didn't bother to refer to the drawings, that would really annoy me. But at least they fixed it. It's looking great, it will be stunning once it's finished and the plants are in. Love the brick wall and mature tree, is that a bottlebrush? Gorgeous effect. Re: New Home Landscape Design - Kensington WA 54Apr 28, 2015 9:51 am The tree is a firewheel tree. A native to the east coast. The lady that built the house in the 50s planted it. My neighbors told me she loved it and insisted they didn't damage it when they built their garage. We designed the back of the house around it but when we went through planning approval council wanted us to move the house back which meant we wouldn't have been able to keep it. I put a case to them about the significance of the tree and the council compromised on our setback so we could keep it ☺ I really love the tree... It's a good size for a back yard and the flowers are beautiful. I can't wait to see how that transforms the yard. .. although to be honest nothing really looks that surprising. .. it looks exactly the same as it does in sketchup. .. It's such an amazing free piece of software! Re: New Home Landscape Design - Kensington WA 57May 03, 2015 10:22 pm Our deck started last week and it looks great! I love it. The brickies are still going with the walls - they were supposed to be on site for 5 days, they've been there for three weeks and still have a few days left. They've definitely picked up the game with the rendering and it now looks okay. Progress pic..
