Hi Trimum
Clintdb mentioned above the aircon unit they got and another that they were recommended. He built a two storey home with Sekisui which might help with some comparisons

I remember Sekisui tried to sell me a single tap filter... declined it. But whole of house sounds like such a good idea! Hmm can I ask, with the CP glass, what differences have you noticed between that and normal 3mm glazing? The glazing is great. In my view worth it. We noticed it when still in the build process and had a very hot day and no roof at the time. Being behind the glass was so much cooler! It's not something that's easily changed later so would urge you to splurge now. Yes the design of the deck is to allow us to walk from the courtyard to the deck. We learned that from a previous house where it was very annoying not to be able to get from one verandah to the other. I'm hoping our removal of a set of stairs is not going to be similar! We removed it to save some money and the assumption that we'd rarely use it. Re: KDR with Sekisui House: post handover 2414Feb 19, 2017 6:38 pm Just on the glass - we did double glazing on the north and the couple of west facing windows. If I had my time again, I would have done it on the 3 bedroom windows (east facing) upstairs as well. Even though the house is kept cool or warm with the A/C, it is noticeable the difference between the bedroom itself and being right next to the window - especially in the winter when the space right next to the glass is actually quite cool compared to the bedroom (or the rest of the house for that matter). The other rooms that have the double glazing have much less difference between the glass and the room. North and south in living room. The west facing slider we went for thermaline DG. Reckon the 6.38CP helps with any sort of thermal retention in winter? We had an opportunity to change when they switched to A&L but didn't... asking now in case that opportunity comes up again. Thanks Re: KDR with Sekisui House: post handover 2416Feb 19, 2017 8:05 pm I just checked with my husband (who was in charge with the analysis of the different glazing options at the time!) and he tells me that there is a slight bit of insulative property for winter. So yes some help but not as significant as double glazed. Re: KDR with Sekisui House: post handover 2418Feb 20, 2017 8:28 am interestingly I spoke to the same brickies that did our place and they said "all" the supervisors have quit (rather than going to Burbank). At least 6 of them that our brickies know have quit.... Re: KDR with Sekisui House: post handover 2419Feb 20, 2017 9:00 am Loves your deck. Do they works on the job every day or comes and goes? I suppose if it was bucketing down with rain in the morning they wouldn't show but up till now they have been coming and sometimes finish up once it starts raining or is way too hot. We were lucky in that our old house was so small (86 square metres) compared to the new house, they were able to take enough readings around the old backyard house before… 8 37084 The biggest challenge will be if you take out a loan and then run out of money - you'll have an incomplete security and lenders do not like this so you can get stuck.… 2 18896 Hi, I am looking into doing a KDR in Melbourne and am contemplating using Kialla Homes. I am looking for feedback on them from others who have built with them. 0 13437 |
