The remaining space will be grass so the pugs have somewhere to go to the toilet Re: Anyone building with Homebuyers Centre in VICTORIA? 3692Apr 19, 2016 6:31 pm puglover Ours isn't built yet but as its a small space we're planning on building decking out to the fence, bench seating along the fence line with a vertical garden on the fence itself. Our area is pretty small as well but it looks like it's going to be a lot of work! We have clay soil and it's really bad! Our deck will be about 5m sq and at this stage we're using merbau wood (we are still arguing over this lol). Our friend's dad works in a timber yard so we're hoping to get mates rates. If we can get away with paying under $1500 for all materials we'll be happy. A couple of my friends paid between $8-10k for their decks which were quite large. Re: Anyone building with Homebuyers Centre in VICTORIA? 3694Apr 19, 2016 6:52 pm Oh wow, you are very lucky! Even if I wanted to, can't afford to pay even $8k just for a deck! Yikes. Side yard is complete. Our backyard will take 6 months I reckon. We've been here 4 months. Really enjoying it Re: Anyone building with Homebuyers Centre in VICTORIA? 3698Apr 19, 2016 6:57 pm We're doing it all ourselves. Inlaws helped with paving. We planted everything. Way to expensive to get anyone in to do it. Re: Anyone building with Homebuyers Centre in VICTORIA? 3699Apr 19, 2016 6:59 pm Got the rocks from someone down the road whose was finished with their work. Saved heaps doing it this way. Check gumtree for items as well. Much cheaper Re: Anyone building with Homebuyers Centre in VICTORIA? 3700Apr 19, 2016 7:08 pm Youtube has helpes us heaps. My husband plans on getting help from a friend to build a fence down the track. We will use seed instead of laying down grass. Way cheaper. Taken advantage of sales at nurseries here. Also just through talking to people in the area I've meet someone that can take me to a wholesale nusery. Most wholesale places open up to the public once a month I havent, and i havent looked to much into it, but on face value its not the saviour its trying to make out to be.
