Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Who else is building with Eden Brae? 13930Oct 24, 2016 12:23 pm I had a onsite walk thru with my site supervisor last week, we are in Week 22 of the build. Found out few things which I feel appropriate to share Didn't knew that if you are doing the ground floor coverings (tiling etc) with EBH then under stairs (in case of 2 storey house) is not included. Standard is - not included unless specified. my EBH package includes Taubmans paint system, i remember insisting HOG to include the 3rd coat at the time our colours as I knew they only do 2, but the consultant kept on saying that EBH does so many such houses, 2 coats are just fine. I also have few others that have build with EBH that were sort of unhappy with the paint quality. I will work out the 3rd coat directly with painters (hopefully). ----------------- Eden Brae Cremorne Blog : http://newhouse.gores.com.au Re: Who else is building with Eden Brae? 13931Oct 24, 2016 3:51 pm Ausman I had a onsite walk thru with my site supervisor last week, we are in Week 22 of the build. Ausman, can you kindly clarify if you have 3 coats in your contract or final documents..? If you have 3 coats on documentation, then SS should provide these. If you don't, then I agree you'd be getting this done post handover with independent contractor. I have 2 coats of Taubmans Endure in Calico Beige, which look fabulous - no wall showing through at all. All the best with it. My contract says Taubmans Endure Paint System PixiGT, does not mention how many coats. But my SS confirmed it is 2 coats. I mention to him that I hear 3rd coat will be nice and he said yes it is recommended and many of them get it done. I have a friend who is building with another major builder and he is paying $1500 for 3rd coat. Are you staying at the place where you are happy with 2 coats of Paint you mentioned above PixiGT? ----------------- Eden Brae Cremorne Blog : http://newhouse.gores.com.au Re: Who else is building with Eden Brae? 13933Oct 24, 2016 4:50 pm Ausman PixiGT Ausman I had a onsite walk thru with my site supervisor last week, we are in Week 22 of the build. Makes sense - thanks Ausman Yes; calico beige in Taubmans Endure looks fantastic in 2 coats. I'm not sure about other colours - maybe others have experienced different (I know my EBH built neighbour wasn't happy with 2 coats, but they did not use calico beige - I'm not aware of the colour they chose). Hope it works out for you. Re: Who else is building with Eden Brae? 13934Oct 24, 2016 9:15 pm Ausman, I asked for 3 coats, the estimator came back with $3300, I said no thank you. Honestly, I think 2 coats is sufficient. If I was to upgrade/spend my money, it would have to be insulator between floor AND sound insulator for the whole house, which was around $2500 (last year price). My under stair is currently tiled, and I didn't have to ask for it.. I upgraded to laminate but need to check whether they will laminate under stair too or not... Re: Who else is building with Eden Brae? 13936Oct 25, 2016 6:42 am Thx Newport38. SS mentioned understairs tiling depends upon the tiler if he gets it done its good but EBH standard is no tiling understairs. ----------------- Eden Brae Cremorne Blog : http://newhouse.gores.com.au Re: Who else is building with Eden Brae? 13937Oct 25, 2016 1:00 pm So we are currently in CDC approval. I was advised on 11 Oct that CDC has been lodged. I have just been advised CDC approval is taking 6-8 weeks at the moment. With a construction start date of 30th Nov, it seems like this will not happen. -Has anyone run into this? The CSA is not responding if this is going to happen or not. very frustrating. - The CSA seems to just respond to questions and I seem to just have surprise PCV's come up ( Water inspection, additional BAL). The one reason we signed up with Eden Brae was that they were good. I am so far not impressed. Our previous home builder seemed to give it a more personal touch. -Anyone taking a Loan and doing upgrade/colour selections-do the banks raise an issue with financing the whole amount? My bank has so far just asked for all the PCV's along with the Fixed Price contract. NOt sure if there can be any last minute drama. -Regarding PCV's, it seems I just need to check their work. On two instances, I caught that they had requoted an item and I had to point out the PCV where they had charged me before. Coz CDC should be in average 2 weeks for approval... I am due to start in Nov too at Oran park Re: Who else is building with Eden Brae? 13940Oct 25, 2016 9:41 pm hi mikegrg1, We were confirmed again by our CSA that we were going through CDC. Question- did your email/letter advising about lodgement say approval was about 6-8 weeks? Another Classic Eden Brae stuff up today.. I asked when would I be sent the remaining PCV's. Eden Brae CSa said no more PCV's till the final one @DA stage. I then had to specifically ask where are the PCV's for Kitchen and Tiles. Response- Oh! We have not received them yet, please followup with them so they can sent to us. What a joke!! Really questioning Eden Brae processes and ability to not stuff up on our build. I built with EB back on 2009.
